:star: Update for 31 May 2015: Hey, wow, time flies when you're having fun.  It also flies when you're crazy-busy with non-art things, such as convention/art show preparation.  A month and a half went by and I didn't even realize it until I saw the date on this journal.

Obviously, I'm running behind again.  I still have two art trades to finish, as well as several commissions.  I have SoonerCon to attend at the end of June, Dragoncon and possibly FenCon which have to be ready by early August (I'm mailing away to those two), family vacation, then a local art show in Raytown, THEN it'll be time to get ready for Archon, which is in early October.  You would not *believe* how much time these things consume!

...Unless you do art shows, too.  Then I bet you know all about what a time sink the preparations can be.

Oh, hey, how about some shop talk!  Do you do art shows?  Which one or ones do you like a whole lot?  What's the best part about your favorite art show?

These days I do one art show and one craft fair every year - and the art show only for the last 3 years.
They are both massive time sinks!  ;p
I need to stop taking the same art to the show year after year; but it's a country fair, and I just don't create that much 'fair friendly' art for my own enjoyment.  ;p

Yes, "massive time sink" is definitely what comes to mind with a county fair.  There's the added task of setting up your whole shop and sitting with your stuff most of the weekend; that's something I've never worked up the energy to do, so I admire folks who are willing to put in that extra effort.

LOL - Oh yeah, you have to get a little variety in there...  People will start to notice if you show the same stuff every year!  That might not be a bad thing, though.  :D

Lucky for me the fair is a collaborative show, so we all take turns sitting 'on' it. ;p
But I'm always up late doing something the night before.

All busy at the time or not, rachaelm?

All busy all the time, except when I'm not, which isnt' often.  ;p

I honestly wish I could help your friend...Though if need be I may help by spreading the word out a little for further help! :)

As for an art trade, as much as I would love to, my art doesn't match the quality of that of your art (I wouldn't consider myself better/as good)
rachaelm5's avatar
Even spreading the word is helpful, so thank you.  :-)

Well, I only open up for trades once every couple-three years, so next time I open the floodgates, perhaps you can join me in a trade!  Just keep drawing all the time and your confidence - and your madskills! - will grow.
Kerriecat's avatar
Thank you! :)

And I'm quite willing to spread the word!

Would you be interested in doing an art trade with me when you have the time? :)

I realize I'm not at your level ... but getting a piece from you would really be an honor. :) Plus, I'd like to draw you something! :D

I'm happy to work with artists at all different skill levels.  I'm not open for new trades right now, but I will add you to my waiting list.  Those on the list get first dibs when I'm ready to do trades again - possibly later this year, but it'll depend on real-world responsibilities and things.  You know how that goes.  ;-)

:) Yep! That's understandable!

Thank you so much for the opportunity! :D

You'll do fine! And good luck, of course.

No worries - I completely understand! Work and education have to take first priority.

Doing electrical engineering myself.

But so far, I have to get Calculus level math first.

I'll let you know when I become like Tony Stark.
rachaelm5's avatar
Ohhhh, calculus...  I never made it that deeply into the realm of mathematics.  I'm fortunate that the work I'm doing doesn't require anything more complicated than algebra.  I wish you the best of luck on your own endeavor!

Of course, You won't see me wear a corny getup, like Max Dillon.

*Cue Nigel having miraculously survived being struck with a Tesla coil.*

Good luck with classes! No rush on my trade... I've become more ambitious for yours so it's not close to done yet >___<

Quite all right; I do understand.  :D
