Ultramarine Abstract

By
This is technically "just" a background for another piece, but I really like the way it looks all by itself.  It's plain ol' Liquitex heavy-body acrylic dabbled on with a coarse-haired brush.

Finally finished!   Dracogena Oceanus final by rachaelm5

I thought so, too. I personally enjoy the textures. :-)

Today it makes my think of the US in turbulent seas.

I love the way that the painting can be interpreted so many ways. I can see what you mean. I'm a lousy symbolist, but I can at least grasp your metaphor!

Beautiful; I love all the blended shades of blues!

Thank you! I used a bunch of my favorite blues - ultramarine, blue-violet, phthalo blue, and a bit of titanium white.

Very Nice! At first sight, I thought it was heavy seas and a something very big was just under the surface like some of the subsurface atolls in the Pacific. Then I realized it was your art and "OOOO, I wonder what she is going ot put onthat background?".

Thank you! I love the way that abstract art can be interpreted so many ways! I *am* glad that it reads like heavy seas - that is definitely what I was going for in terms of the background for this particular project. :D
