Tremorworks: Centipede

Yes, sometimes you DO just have to do a giant centipede drawing. This one happens to be a commissioned buggy, but nonetheless... And he's on FIRE! W00tz0Rzzzz!!!1!! :w00t!:

Well, there's always the ancient millipede: Arthropleura. I mean... THAT happened.

LOL - Yes.  Yes indeed.  It makes you wonder a lot about the creatures of ancient mythology.  When did the giant millipedes and giant centipedes go from scaring the bejeezus out of some ancient guy's poor mother to becoming the gigantic monsters that you needed guys like Perseus and Heracles to fight?  :D

I'd say around 500 million years ago...? :P :D

Centipedes always grossed me out, me and my dad loathe them with a passion. I;m just glad there's no giant ones...

The fire doesn't really stick out like fire,it reminds me more of cave stalagmites. But you know what, you have a MUCH neater hand than I do. I do admire you. :worship:

Am I odd if I think that this centipede of yours is hot? Naah, I can't be..It is on fire, of course it is hot. :+fav: I LOVE that shading!

Love-bug - LOL! :giggle: Thanks again, Mari.

the shading on this is wonderful, especially with the shine on fire on the exoskeleton.

Two , especially the way the angle of the back plates changes as the centipede twists and contorts.

Thankies. I've been doing shelled monstrosities for quite a while, and I particularly like to play with the way that the shells telescope and layer to enable the beasties to turn into an attack position. :D

GIANT CENTIPEDE!!!

[Takes out Dlex sword and begins to hack away at it]

Lol But seriously, this is a very good picture and believe it or not, Centipedes freak me out. I love them and fear them at the same time since I heard that their bites can kill a person. Not to mention, they are ugly as hell!

There are only a few of the tropical species that have seriously dangerous bites. Most of the ones that you'd find throughout the United States may give you a nasty welt, but it won't kill you.

Oh! And I didn't include a size reference - Rak, you may want to invite some friends along to help you hack the big bug to pieces - He's 50 meters long and 5 meters wide, and his shell is harder'n steel. Probably an organic mineral similar to dlex, come to think of it. And as he's on fire, remember to attune your helemt's infra-dampers to compensate... :-)

Scolopendra doesn't seem to hold a candle to this guy...
Maybe I should revise him?

I dunno - link me in to Scolopendra, if you please?

Okay, you were going for centipede "monster" while I was merely going for "monstrous centipede". I think if we had a sense of scale on your beastie we might get a sense of how dangerous he is - and he could always do with some more legs. I think that may be half the fun of drawing such creatures as these.

Eh; yours is a different take on the idea. I like it a lot just as is and would certainly like to see you color it.

We'll see what the future and my muse have to say about this, then...
