Character Comparison #6: Joy in the Face of Danger by RaccoonBroVA Character Comparison #6: Joy in the Face of Danger by RaccoonBroVA
Trolls was a very divisive movie for me. There was plenty to like such as the animation, the Bergens, and even some of the songs. But that was all muddled by the annoying slang, annoying songs, and REALLY annoying Trolls. Since Poppy is the leader of the idiots, it made since to start with her.

And honestly, Pinkie needs no real introduction. I'll be covering all of my favorite characters eventually, but I wouldn't be surprised if I do another one with her for her stuff in the show. Who knows? ^^

Voice Actors

Princess Poppy- Anna Kendrick

Pinkie Pie- Andrea Libman

Another wonderful aspect of Pinkie in the movie is that, while she is the delightfully joyful comic relief character she always is, she was also capable of having a serious moment or two. Specifically, the scene immediately after the Mane Six are kicked out of the underwater kingdom, when she calls out Twilight for how she had been acting. Pinkie may have been uber- cheerful and at times clueless, but she showed in that scene that she can take things seriously, have a strong sense of morals, and even act as the voice of reason/ morality for the main character (Who is usually the one who fills that role on the show).

To be honest, I have to disagree with you on Pinkie Pie’s part. I mean I like Pinkie but in this movie, she felt a little out of character for me. I know she has an over the top silly personality and loves to party but in the show, there are times when she took the situation seriously. Remember the time where she tries to get rid of parasprites in Swarm of the Century once she first encounters with them, she did her best to babysit the twins in Baby Cakes, facing her consequences in Too Many Pinkie Pies, and show some self-aware moments. But in this movie, when she’s about to fell to her death... twice, she just smiles and laughing. And even after Twilight save Pinkie, she goes all “Best Escape Plan EVER!” It honestly makes me go all “Pinkie, you’re not Monkey D Luffy from One Piece. Are you seriously for real?!” At least for Luffy’s excuse, fearlessness is one of his personality traits because he doesn't care if he dies as long as he holds his convictions true to himself and goes for his dream. Pinkie, on the other hand, there are times in the show where she shows her fear like in Bats and Scare Master. To be honest, I don’t blame Twilight in the movie where she tries to steal the pearl since the other mane 6 couldn’t take the situation while not only the Equestria is in trouble, they’re being hunted down by Tempest. The only time in the movie when she taking anything seriously is where we’re gonna have a forced breakup scene between Twilight and her friends which... I’m sorry... I still called it bullshit after 7 seasons of developing of their friendship even when they made many of mistakes and ask for forgiveness. Plus, I found it predictable since I know it’s not really gonna be end of their because the franchise wouldn’t do that. I know Twilight was in lot of stress and made a mistake, but the way she saids to Pinkie was pretty nasty, even for Twilight.
