Literature Text

She is done

Looking at his things.
Deciding to box them up.
Return them to him.

Letters. Stuffed toys. Photographs.

Except the leather wristband
That once carved her wrist

Every day
For a year.

Faded. Brown. Worn.
His favorite possession.
Tossed atop the dresser.
Absent from the box.

Her revenge.
Intermediate Creative Writing Assignment. To write a confession note, then break it into stanzas, then make it center around the object instead of ourselves, and then fine tune from there. I like the way it turned out. This one is about how I kept the wristband my ex-boyfriend gave me when I returned all of his stuff to him - even though it was the one thing he wanted back.
