UPDATED on April number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine etc.... Say both Talofa Lava and Hola to "Sunshine" Also, corrected the title.

UPDATED 7th of February, "Karie-Anne" has joined the group.

UPDATED the 28th or 29th of August

Ok, a couple of my friends here sometimes come up with characters and need a written story for them. I'm doing the opposite. I have written descriptions, but yet to draw them. I imagine this taking place in the general universe the RSU, but...this would be more laid back. Like some kind of kids' show about a neighborhood. Ridgewood Street is named after Ridgewood Avenue in Montreal, a street that's a dead end...but long enough that it has buses running up and down it.

Anyways, here's some ideas..... people like kaykeyser , SpaceshipLewis, Animedino1 , mickeyelric11  and WillM3luvTrains may be interested. Any questions? Ask. I haven't fleshed out everything. And any ideas for other friends....or even neighbors or even enemies.....just put them here!

Ridgewood Street

Ridgewood Street, to lots of people, it’s a dead-end street that goes partway up a mountain in the Borough of Grierton, Nu’u-Sara, Ai’a’ivea. But for these people, and many others, it’s not a road. It’s a community. It’s people and places. It is memories, wonders, and adventures. It is hopes and dreams.

Ridgewood Street, a windy street that goes up a hill, where these people all live, may look....parts of it, especially near the "bottom", look quite urban, and there's a handful of shops there. Further up the street, it's mostly suburban, with also a school or two, and a few parks. There's also a couple of restaurants, and an enu stable (Tex's family owns it). Palm trees? You'll see lots of them growing there. The street has quite a few bends. The top of the street, where it ends in a loop, there's a couple of small apartment buildings, several houses, a mansion, and the middle of the loop is a small park. There's also a "sub-garage" for buses to park overnight. And there's access to a larger park, through an alley between the two apartment buildings.

Jonquiere

Girl, human

Jonquiere Dana Latulipe

This bright and cheerful young girl, previously from the Borough of Phoenecia, Nu’u-Sara, now lives on Ridgewood Street with her parents and two siblings, and a cat named Luna. She’s of mixed French-Canadian and Lebanese descent. She dreams of being an explorer.

Personality: Very cheerful and playful, very friendly. Often has her head in the clouds, though.

Appearance: Dark brown hair, light-almond complexion, average height for a nine-year old girl. Hazel eyes.

Style: Always wears a bow in her hair. Usually wearing dresses, and, underneath, wears visible puffy bloomers (the puffier, the better), although she calls them “pantalets.”

Sax

Man, human

Denzel “Sax” Johnson

Originally from New Orleans. He always lived for music. He now lives on Ridgewood Street with his adopted daughter, Tasha. He’s of African American descent. He expresses himself well, despite his weakness. Sadly, his voice is gone, can only do vowels, and droning, and a bit of scat. He has a few “signals” he does with his saxophone, to indicate certain things.

Personality: Often upbeat, sometimes very too the point. Can be quite emotional. Often expresses with his saxophone.

Appearance: Dark skin, dark hair. Is actually older than he looks.

Style: Always wears a bow-tie, and usually a nice shirt with a collar (rumored to even SLEEP in those things). Either a baggy pants, or if it’s exceptionally hot, may dress the Ai’a’ive way in an ie lavalava (sarong).

Aurelio

Boy, Ya’a-Naomi*

Aurelio Si’isi “Ronaldo” Soares-Iyi

This boy was originally from the borough of Ovia, and much like Ovia itself, is a mix of Ya’a-Naomi and Lusophone. He’s very active, and dreams of being a great soccer player. He can bend it like Beckham, kick it like Kaka, and roll it like Ronaldinho. Also into dancing. He lives with his mother, who’s from Algarve, Portugal, and his Ya’a-Naomi father from the planet YaYa-Niaferia. His grandparents from his mother’s side also live with him.

Personality: Competitive, and determined. Also very loyal.

Appearance: Ya’a-Naomi (has raccoon-like head) with natural reddish tinge to fur, including his striped tail.

Style: Normally wears a laari (Naomian sarong), as well as a soccer shirt, usually of Brazil or Portugal.

*So is technically a hybrid (mother is human), but due to his genetics, looks pure Ya’a-Naomi.

(So what’s a Ya’a-Naomi? It resembles a cross between the human and the raccoon, but is neither. Like a human, is upright, and has opposable thumbs. Like a raccoon, has the head with black around the eyes, but only males have the white “beard” around the nose and mouth. Unlike either, the toes are of nearly equal length and spread out like a bird’s.)

Tasha

Girl, Human

Tasha Talia Johnson

She had a rough life, having lost her parents, and been “pinballed” between different foster homes. At one time things looked up when she was adopted, by an aunt, and taken to Nu’u-Sara, only for THAT parent to die. Parts of her life were on the street. Took some time to be able to trust anyone. But Sax took her in, not without difficulty. Befitting someone a musician adopted, she has musical tastes and talents herself.

Personality: Sometimes shy or scared around those she doesn’t know. Has problems with change. Still has flashbacks. May have PTSD. Finds comfort in music.

Appearance: Long dirty blonde hair. Skin is pale.

Style: Usually wearing either a simple t-shirt and shorts, or a summer dress. Sometimes wears an oversized t-shirt big enough to act as a dress.

Timmy

Boy, Ai’a’ive

Timu “Timmy” Tevu Ai’a’ive

Like Tasha, whom he considers a best friend, he lost his parents, but that is where the similarities end. He was adopted by one of his aunts, Violet, and her wife Lala, and lives with them, as well as aunts Rosa, Lilly, Dahlia and Gardenia, Gardenia’s husband Eric, and their two children (his cousins). Enjoys being with people, partying, and playing outside. Has dreams of being a motorcycle racer, although Aunt Lilly worries about that.

Personality: Friendly, perhaps to a fault.

Appearance: Brown hair, light (for an Ai’a’ive) skin, blue-green-yellow wings.

Style: Often in just an ie lavalava (sarong) and, if his aunts remind him, sandals.

(What’s an Ai’a’ive? Humans, but with wings. Ai’a’ivea, on Earth, is named after them.)

Mariada

Girl, Nuanua

Rebecca “Mariada” Lanumoana

She has dreams of making big discoveries and maybe winning a Nobel Prize. She takes her nickname from Marie Curie (discovered radioactivity, among other things) and Ada Lovelace (important in the history of computers) Reads lots of books, and sometimes a bit awkard on the social side of things. Sometimes pedantic, and often has insane ideas for experiments.

Personality: Pendantic, genius, easily irritated.

Appearance: Dark orange hair, almond skin, lithe build.

Style: Often wears a labcoat, or else will wear an oversized t-shirt or a dress, typically with either scientific or comic book motifs.

(What’s a Nuanua? That race is known for the pointed ears. Also, when females reach a certain age, their hair insists on being a certain length, and is controllable)

Tex

Boy, Human

Billy “Tex” Southwood

He grew up in Oklahoma, and resents all the comparisons to Texas (there’s a slight feud over who has the better cowboys!) He has a condition that messes up his walking, he prefers riding. They moved, because his father switched from horses to bird-like enus, something that resembles a cross between an ostrich and a chicken, and rideable. There is an enu stable on Ridgewood, and those birds are allowed in the nearby park, and several other areas. He likes sports, but his condition means that many of them are a bit out of his reach.

Personality: Friendly, talkative. Gets irritated if called a Texan, but sort of tolerates “Tex” as a nickname, because there’s no real short form of “Oklahoma.”

Appearance: Red hair, freckles

Style: Almost always wearing a cowboy hat, and usually jeans or jean-shorts.

Samma

Girl, Human

Samantha “Samma” Porter

Born in a village in the South Meadowlands, just south of Nu’u-Sara, her family moved quite recently. She’s into trains, art, and cartoons, among other things. Also plays the guitar. And is fascinated by wires, especially overhead wire for trains (or “catenary”) (In Ai’a’ivea, all overhead wire with enough voltage is required to have brightly colored balls attached to it). Lives with her father, and her Faerian stepmother, as well as a half-brother and a half-sister. She envies their wings. They also have a family of opossums that live in their garden.

Personality: Can be friendly, but…sometimes socially awkward. Can be very particular/pedantic. Obsessive about some things.

Appearance: Black, dark long hair.

Style: Will either be barefoot, or possibly wearing sandals (unless she has to wear something more), and either a loose dress (she even has a few nightgowns that double as day-dresses) or a skirt (with pockets) and a t-shirt. Prefers pockets. Much of her clothing has railroad logos, or images of train tracks, trains, or…opossums.

Funny Frank

Boy, Human

Franklin “Funny Frank”Aleksi Cisternini

The guy’s a natural class clown and funny boy, wants to make people laugh, but sometimes he takes it way too far. Came from Lima Island (also in Nu’u-Sara) with his mother, and brother. He also has a pet python, named…Monty, of course!

Personality: Funny, sometimes over-the-top.

Appearance: Mediterranean complexion, short curly hair

Style: Prefers to be and do funny rather than look it, dresses in a t-shirt and either shorts, jeans, or even a lavalava. Sometimes though does wear a bowtie, that’s the funniest he dresses usually.

George the Boy

Boy, Human

Giorgio “George the Boy” Spiro Cisternini

Funny Frank’s older brother. Most known for his odd dress sense, and his seeming lack of fear, to the point others get worried. He has dreams of being some kind of artist or story-teller…or possibly a stuntman.

Personality: Adventerous, stubborn, confident

Appearance: Medditeranean complexion, wavy blond hair.

Style: Wears loose “girl” dresses, or might mix a girl’s top with an Ai’a’ive lavalava, or a boy’s top with a girl’s skirt. But always wears good shoes for exploring.

Karie-Anne

Girl, Human

Karina “Karie-Anne” Annabelle Grier

She was born in Grierton, in fact she has uncles and aunts who were among the first in what was just a small town named Grierton, before it was absorbed into Nu’u-Sara. She lives at the top of the hill, with relatives in the houses on either side. She has a love of the unknown and the magical. She loves forests and the night. She lives with her parents and two brothers, but has lots of extended family nearby. Plays the piano, and has a pet dog, and a cat.

Personality: At times aloof. Used to be stubborn, new friends changed that.

Appearance: Pale complexion. Dark brown hair, usually worn in pigtails or another “twin” style.

Style: Sometimes her parents want her to dress fancy. Other than that, usually dresses for comfort, whether shorts or loose dresses.

Sunshine

Girl, Ai’a’ive

Susanita Marisol Aveolela “Sunshine” Flores Ai’a’ive

She was born in Nuevas Angeles, to a Mexican father and an Ai’a’ive mother. She has two last names, as is custom in much of the Spanish-speaking world, Flores from her father, Ai’a’ive from her mother. She’s perpetually happy, and always wants to help. She lives with her parents, two brothers, two sisters, her paternal grandparents, their cat Miringa, and her pet hedgehog Arturo.

Personality: Bubbly, cheerful, helpful, very sociable.

Appearance: Has mixed complexion, dark hair, and yellow-orange colored wings.

Style: It varies very much, but likes to wear clothing and jewelry to show her two heritages, of which she is proud.

I just read, well kind of skimmed it but did take some time to look at this. I was happy to find a character that relates to me! That being Samma, because like me she's into trains, cartoons, and art! I also like guitars, for some reason I like them better than many other instruments and people look so good with guitars, although my favorite instruments are triangles and xylaphones. I like pianos too!

I feel bad for Sax. Him losing his voice and only talking in vowels, that's sad, a grown man talking like a baby. And it's funny I just told myself earlier "I don't mind crying but I DON'T want to cry like a baby!" It made think of my aunt who had Multiple Sclerosis, which killed her in 2004, a few to several days after my High School graduation. But I'll never forget she would cry in pain, probably cry of overwhelmedness, and although I am not diagnosed with MS, I cry of overwhelmedness too, including with my own health issues, some of which is Peripharal Neuropathy (misspelled!) In fact two Sundays ago I came home crying because of being overwhelmed by physical pain and tiredness and being worn out. I just hope I don't start crying like a baby, I did enough of that as a child and nobody wants to hear that, and I don't want to put anyone through that if I can help it!

But I feel bad for Sax.

I wanted to say at first this reminded me of Harvey Street Kids since this was a series about people living on a dead-end street, what I thought was a coldesac (misspelled). It also reminded me of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood but not for very long, I'm reminded more of Harvey Street Kids with the mention of your characters living on a dead-end street. I feel like this reminds me of another cartoon but I don't know what. What other cartoon, besides Rocket Power, a cartoon I don't watch anymore, has all the characters living on the same street and who are all friends with each other? It's not Sesame Street! Maybe there isn't such a cartoon, then again there is I just cannot think of it!

This is all I'll say for now. Thanks for telling me about this. May say more later but no promises!
