Same face CALL OUT !!!!! (me)

Sat Jul 30, 2016, 6:38 PM

Yes... I recently discovered that I TOTALLY have the same face syndrome.

This bothers me as hell LMAO
Like omg let me just show, i've been INVESTIGATING and i have proof. R0BUTT is toxic and this is why!!!1!!1!

Especially in faces with profile view, there are some features that I... ALWAYS... include....   The straight nose™ and that one jawline™.... esp males....
Skarmavbild 2016-07-31 kl. 02.15.28 by R0BUTTSkarmavbild 2016-07-31 kl. 02.07.01 by R0BUTTSkarmavbild 2016-07-31 kl. 02.08.12 by R0BUTTSkarmavbild 2016-07-31 kl. 02.06.14 by R0BUTTSkarmavbild 2016-07-31 kl. 02.05.54 by R0BUTTSkarmavbild 2016-07-31 kl. 02.06.05 by R0BUTTSkarmavbild 2016-07-31 kl. 02.05.22 by R0BUTTSkarmavbild 2016-07-31 kl. 02.05.30 by R0BUTT

IT'S SO ALIKE.... same jaw... same nose.... same eyebrows... SAME EYES.... what differs is the hair and LIKE minor things like facial hair, earrings, tattoos, moles, scars idfk.... the ones that differs the most in this is like, Alex (mole and scar) and Matt (bottom drawing)

This bothers me like hell. What also bother me is that Manu and Guillermo have basically the same face.

The last drawing could HONESTLY be either of them. It could be Manu. Or Momo. I STILL DONT KNOW. Thats how terrible this is. >:I

I RLY WANNA SAY THIS DOE. IM GONNA GET BETTER AT THIS AND FIX THIS.
So shit will go down. I'll draw my characters and doodle af and try to get the hang of this. literally can only draw 2 headshapes.

Just wanted to call myself out on this before anyone else do >:V

Do you also struggle with this??? or did u in the past?? Feel free to comment and tell me about your experiences and how yyou got out of it!!! This is a wake up call for me right now and I'm like.... I need support.... im gonna read my first tutorial and actually follow the stePS PFFFTTTT

Im sure that youll surpass this challenge real soon ;> Im rly not the best to give advice, but this is a trick I use when im in artblocks or dealing with probs like this: ALLOW URSELF
Allow urself to draw shit, to expirement and fail, to try and miss and basically DONT BE AFRAID OF HOW THE RESULTS TURN OUT *3* Just look at your parents or siblings, u r in same family and ur blood is so similar but u all have ur own features! Ur faces are different, ur noses, ur eyes, ur body types (just thinking about my younger sister who is taller and skinnier than me (im so small ;-;cri)) ur everything!!! So like u r doing art here and were trying to draw humans , REAL PEOPLE and people in real life are all sooo unique!! Thats what all makes us all so awesome coz looking at a forest with identical trees is as boring and plain as looking at identical people (wow im so good at making metaphors)!!! ~~ So like make them tall, small, chubby, skinny all u want!! AND DONT RELY BACK COZ REMEMBER UR DRAWING REAL HUMAN BEINGS !!! :3 Pesonally I deal with a lot of problems like this one but like my biggest mistake to correct the fastest way possible is that everytime I draw my characters they look different ;-; My characters never look the same arghh ;-; I think its my artstyle thats not consistent XPXP
Anyways ur awesome and rad and I seriously think that ur gonna find a way to deal with tjis in no time ;333333

AWWWWW I love to get these long ranty comments asdfdgh
And I agree with you on all points.... I'm so bad at like, finding differences and stuff???? Like, in faces and such, both me and my dad have very straight noses from the side, and I like to draw noses that way cause... it's easy OMG.... I THINK for me it's mosly about lazyness and not stepping outside the box, which i actively try to do with many OTHER things, but I forget some of the most important thing that we all relate to... the actual face.... I'm actually planning to make some sorta chart for what my bodies look like for my different characters, to see if theres any big differences or not! I already know I got a lack of chubbier characters, and that's a problem for me to be fixed~
and thank u so much.... for the sweet comment.... fkn bless<3<3<3

Stare at your face. Stare at other peoples faces. Take the time you have to observe and if people think your being creepy or ride for staring? Keep staring. Fuck them. I still have this problem, but its gotten better bc i try not to be afraid of making my characters ugly. Give them scars, missing teeth, a broken nose, an uneven jaw or smile, or even exaggerate features. The features on the human face can determine their personality at times. Angles and sharp edges can give masculine feel while rounder softer can give a femme feel, but that does not mean you have to restrict yourself as suck! I think DreamWorks has good examples of variety in character design. There is a lot of use of shapes. Or check out paranorman!!! If you haven't already. The character diversity is beautiful.
Most important: KEEPING STARING!!!! OBSERVE LIKE U LIFE DEPEND ON IT!!

I want to believe that managed to get some facial divercity in the past 5 years ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ I didn't even know it was a thing then, but I'd already started experimenting with different head/face types when I found out..

uuuh so i'm still...dealing with this BUT yeah i..understand what you mean
i guess at this point i can only really offer encouragement since i'm still trying to figure
out how to fix this myself. i guess maybe i can say try to draw from realistic faces?
idk maybe that might help you learn to draw different features! :0

i used to do this all the time before my style developed to be more realistic, but i still do it sometimes (but honestly who doesnt??)
it would always be the same round face with a tiny nose and thin eyebrows
facial diversity is really important!! plus its fun to try drawing different features different ways

I FEEL THIS... i used to draw the same face no matter what...even tho ive gotten a bit better with it, i still struggle a little esp considering i am struggling with my art style. but i feel like, drawing ur ocs next to each other helps? like if u draw them next to each other, ur less likely to draw them the same (in my case anyways) so if u draw them together a couple of times, maybe youll be able to make the differences easier

lol i think i suffer from same face syndrome too (just same oc syndrome tbqh) but what i try to do is use shapes to form my faces. like ah, i'm gonna use a recent example of mine just cos im bad at explaining;
Original Character 128
like w/those two charries, for the bigger guy i use like, squares/rectangles to form his face n then for the tinier guy i use circles/ovals. like, i think one important thing to note (at least imo) when drawing faces, is like, the actual shape of the face, so i tend to use diff shapes for the sketches instead of just circles/ovals for everyone. idk!! i'm still a p much beginner artist so take anything i say w/a grain of salt but, those r just things ive picked up. like, follow a shape sketch.

I think that like,, the face shape is rly important, cause I only draw the same face shape base and then build onto that and like... im p sure that causes the same face shit :^( I'll try that doe!!
When I sketch I often mix round and square shapes, but I'll try to mix them up a lil more again too!!

I sort of struggle from same face, if that makes sense?? It was REALLY bad about 1.5 years ago & before that, but then I started diversifying faces a bit. My tip: it's easiest to start with noses & jawlines, especially with lest realistic art styles like yours and mine! Giving some characters big noses, and others itty bitty ones, and drawing hook-shaped noses as well as thin straight ones is very fun and also quite distinctive. Jawline/face shape is pretty easy and also important, because face shapes are sort of like the foundation of the face. Best of luck to you!
