Lineart talk by R0BUTT Lineart talk by R0BUTT
I slept all day omfg but I want to talk about lineart!!!
And my personal experience w/ it!
This is Guillermo btw<3

I've always felt like I can't draw lineart, that it always turns out messy and unfinished cause of of my own laziness omg... You can see that in most of my earlier deviations, and I personally think that my frustration is really shining through, that I've wanted to do something and given up putting the effort into it.

This frustration is probably what caused me taking the course I took!

Basically skipping the lineart entirely n just color the sketches I made, for my own sake. I wasn't enjoying lineart and it made the whole process worthless to me, since I didn't enjoy the result. So for a long time I only colored sketches. It was a big learning process for me to learn how to make sketches clean or solid enough to work with!

And later on I did the thing which my art is probably most recognizable for today; that I started doing the whole paintery thing that my art is about right now! It was a JOY for me to be able to use this technique, since it was fun, didn't take much effort or time, and I was pleased with the result. I felt like I could finally express myself!

But I've ALWAYS admired artists who have the patience and skill to work with lineart. I've always wished that I could draw like that

While my downfall was my own way to finding happiness with my art, it has always still felt like a defeat. The one thing I couldn't do, and didn't have patience to learn. Trying to cover my messiness up with textured brushes, saying it's "supposed to look like that" and not even posting the art cause it turned out so bad.

Today, I drew this, and I'm VERY VERY proud of myself!!!!!
It was REALLY fun to do, I enjoyed it so much!! It was a sketch at first that I cleaned up and tried to make the lines bubbly and expressive and bold. I don't think I've ever been as pleased with a drawing I've made that has lineart! I am so happy with the result just for that reason<33
Maybe one day I'll be able to master the lineart thing! Maybe I don't! Maybe I give up!! But at least I tried right!!!

Feel free to tell me about YOUR experience with lineart n stuff<33

.:aww lover:.

y hello guillermo

I used to follow the usual lineart - color - etc thing but eventually I figured that I was too disorganized for that XD I ended up coloring over lines and then lining them over and then coloring them over again... and it goes on lol. But my more simple doodle-y drawings (ones which I don't colour / shade) kind of has some lineart-y thing going on I guess. To be honest it looks kind of like yours :'D

yes I'm also in awe for artists who have the patience and skill for lineart HOWEVER I don't think this cheating / impatience stuff is something to be ashamed of. There's no real rule on drawing and I think it shapes one's styles and duuuude i love your style

omg my english suxx

Yeah my experience with lineart has been very similar... Except I'm still working on the painterly thing. :)  I used to love lineart, thought.  I found it relaxing to spend hours polishing it and making it as smooth as possible.  Now, though, that just seems like a chore, since the lines aren't nearly as expressive as a good sketch!

This piece is soooo beautiful <3

AHHH THIS. HMMMM. THIS GOOD 👌👌 you did an awesome job, I can totally see the crisp lines with this one!

the only thing I can do is line art, I can never do a painting style.... but I have always wanted to draw something that didn't have any ;;

but I started out drawing thick lines, but now I'm leaning towards thinner lines so apply the "no-line art" kind of look. I suppose those, it will take time to perfect it lol

this looks so good!!! i'm really proud you've gotten this far!!!!!

personally I always thought thin line art or no line art looked amazing but i could never get thin line art working for me
i had the patience but it never expressed things the way i wanted it to
eventually i caved in and just went with more line diversity and it's been great ever since!!

Aw thank you!!!
And same, lineart in general is very impressive to me who feel unable to do so! I feel like it's like that for whatever skill you feel like you cant grasp omg
I'm glad you found something that works well for you!!!!! :0

yes exactly I've been getting into that recently too though i still do lineart sometimes I'm not obsessed now with doing thin lineart everywhere because i personally find it hard and easier and quicker to add detail with colours or i find it funner to do line art and colour it but then go over it all again with more colour and detail and defining stuff and effects and things
but people who can do lineart like that are very impressive and i love seeing work like that
ALSO THIS DOES LOOK AMAZING and a very great example of it

Yeah!! I never feel like my art is particularly detailed, I think I work more with big fields and such, so detailed work isnt much for me, but i also admire people who can make detailed art without making it seem cluttered!!
Thank you so much!!!

yeah its more about the shape and idk its hard to explain hahaha but its more stylised though thin lines and detail is equalling as good and respected in their own ways
either way its hard to switch one from the other easily hahaha
and its no problem!! ; v;

My personal experience with lineart is so messy and all over the place.

My first linearts were very... Sharp edged and even sized all the time, no thin parts no nothing. (way in my very first deactivated acc)
Then I moved to a this sketchy messy lineart, which was fast and fun, but got me down as I saw other artists make that super thin, neat curvy lineart with all the smallest detail, so I began to change my style.
At times I've tried other people's styles from thin to thick ro messy to slow and clean, but none really appealed to me nor did I ever get the motivation to develop into a certain style.
So, I decided I do all styles I know in various works. Same with shading as well, i had too many types of shading to settle on one.

My current works however, look like these, where I use traditional and digital ways.

Hey awesome!!!! I think it's good to like, try different things to find where you feel works best for you!!! Theres like, no need to decide for a specific style either, I think that having many styles can be really rewarding and u can gain a better knowledge of things!! :0c keep doing what works best for you!!
