Osborn Process by Quirkilicious Osborn Process by Quirkilicious
Concept, Sketch, Lineart, B&W, Colors

I repainted this shit twice, I ended up taking out the secondary light source from the window for composition's sake.

Just wondering: do you keep anything from the lineart on the finished piece, or do you fully overpaint it?

I usually end up fully painting over everything.

when you color a picture in black and white first, how do change it and add colors?

Not hard to see that sometimes painting forces you to do something other than planned.

But I love everything you've done! Amazing!

It looks better without the secondary light source, its pretty difficult to draw with two light sources on one object anywaiz ;-;

The lighting in this is very nicely done. I think removing the 2nd light source from the window did give it a more menacing look, which ever green goblin should have.

For the lineart, do you just go over the inital sketch with like a 1 px brush/pencil? It looks so clean compared to your sketch.
Not that your sketch looks messy, mine are much worse ^^;

Very cool =D The double light source would have been interesting in the coloured version. Amazing linework. Concept sketches change. Happens all the time. Then I go back and wonder why I didn't go with it.

This is a good example to show people that it's fine not to just settle for their first concept since a new one could work better (though I think that first sketch still would have came out as a good final peice, though just "evil-er" :evileyes:)

Do you sketch on paper...or do you sketch right into open canvas

Both. I prefer digital though, for easy editing and skipping the scanning process.

1-2 days. Mostly depends how much work I'm willing to do in a row before I get bored.

When I say a day or two I mean 6-8 hours, in case you thought I meant something crazy like 24 hours or more. o_o

Wow, yeah, lighting is one of your strong suits. I like how the photo of his mother just barely got ripped off, it's very interesting. You did a great job :D.

That's just too amazing. I've been looking at this for a while now. It's so different from the way I do things. o_o
For example, you seem to do the entire picture in black and white, including the shading and such. Does that mean you repaint the entire thing in colours afterwards? Like, always?

Once the picture is B&W, you simply go over it with "Overlay" layers of color.
