General Quincy character rules for new members. Subject to change or have more added on as time passes.
Are you thinking about joining? A few things you need to do and know beforehand:
The USS Quincy is a new Galaxy-Class starship in the year 2376, just after DS9 so most races are allowed given it fits the timeline.
Although we can work around most issues (I.e. We have a Cardassian on board.) If you have a good explanation for your character's race and background, we will allow it. We also welcome a made-up race, which is always fun.
I will state again, as I did in the general rules, we are quite strict with our Starfleet rules, but will also find a believable way about them. Please take no offense if we give you a suggestion as to your character or give a bit of criticism, as it doesn't mean we believe your character to be not good enough or ill-structured, it may just mean that we (the Founder and Co's) don't personally think or believe the character would be allowed aboard the ship by Starfleet standards or that the background would fit as described.
We also will not force you to change the character, but we also won't change our rules for them. Please understand.
Okay, so let's lay down some character rules.
You're first character should start with a rank from Lieutenant Junior Grade and below and also must be an existing species.
For people who know they want to join must first come into the chat and propose the character. After the green light is given--and you come into the chat frequently enough for a few days, at least--you can then become a member of the group.
If you prove to be active enough and show that you can handle a higher ranking, the character may be promoted.
I wish to make clear again that starter members are allowed one character until they've been around for at least two weeks. After this process you are granted after up to four and you're allowed to make a non-existent species. Although this does not mean you have to have four characters, most of us have one or two.
Keep characters within good reasoning.
This means that your character makes sense to the Trek universe. Doing a little research into time, place and regulations never hurt anyone. Ex. If this were in the TOS timeline, it wouldn't make sense to propose a Klingon character. If you don't do any research, again, do not be surprised if we tell you something doesn't fit, as we like to keep things sensible. We won't make you change it, but give advice on how it would work out.
Just lurking and want to roleplay? Sure.
This is one hundred percent fine. Although, if you aren't looking to join or wish to roleplay to test out our group before you join your character will be kept as a civilian in ranking and won't be added to the character list. If you change your mind and wish to join you must go through the same process as a new member, but you have a short head-start as we already know your character.
On this note, if you at all wish to roleplay you must have a character ready. We would like if you presented us with a bio like so;
or fill out this template
You can do either but the template will also have to eventually be filled out should you wish to join.
If you have any questions feel welcome to contact I or any of our Co-Founders.
