Traditional watercolour painting of Benedict Cumberbatch.
That's my second watercolour portrait, but in the meantime I've bought some new tools and watercolours (because I only had very, very old and cheap Pelikan watercolours from my early schooldays). I don't know how I've been able to live without Schmincke watercolours and Aquash brushes... It's just amazing and I think I fell in love...
Yesterday I also bought "oxgall wetting agent". It's pretty useful (better colour gradients + no "watercolour borders", because it lessens the surface tension of water).
There's still something wrong with him (and I'm sorry for the bad photo quality)
... so it's probably time for more practice with watercolours, but at first I need to finish a few mixed media drawings...
Reference was a picture from a photoshoot (Screen Magazine 2013?).
