Sharks are more important than you think
The Earth is an ocean planet. 99% of all living space on it is water, and 80% of all species live in the ocean. We know from decades of careful research that the oceans have shaped this world - whenever something happened to them, whenever life in the oceans changed, life on Earth changed as a whole. We humans are a wave of extinction, a new event that is suddenly rippling across the tree of life. And as we interfere so strongly with this complex system of interdependence that has taken its shape in millions of years, we change the only world, the only home, our species has ever known. Sharks have lived in the oceans for over 400 million yea
The Big Campaign - Boycott Israeli Goods
from "The Big Campaign Boycott Israeli Goods" on Causes   The Palestine Solidarity Campaign launched the Boycott Israeli Goods Campaign   in the House of Commons on the 4th July 2001.   There had been calls for a boycott from within Israel itself as well as in the Occupied Territories.   The decision to launch the BIG Campaign followed decades of Israel 's refusal to abide by UN Resolutions,   International Humanitarian law and the Fourth Geneva Convention.   On 9th June 2005, after the International Court of Justice's ruling against Israel's apartheid wall,   a coalition of Palestinian Civil Society Organisations issued a 'Cal

Palestine: Never Before has a people suffered such an injustice,
yet displayed resilience and resistance - like Never Before.

Discussions on Palestine and the Palestinian cause have included attempts
to link it to the struggle of South Africans under the apartheid regime
the struggle of the Vietnamese people
the Algerian revolution or other just causes throughout history
The conclusion, however, was that it cannot be compared to any

Mandela - Palestine Poster by Quadraro

What happened in Palestine since 1947 has never happened before
in terms of the combination of the elements:
brutality and racism of the occupier
the injustice of granting one peoples land to others
duration of this injustice, complicity and apathy of the civilized world
as well as Palestinian people's will to resist all that against all odds

Hence the term the Never-Before Campaign:
Injustice that is unfolding like never before
met with resistance and resilience, also like never before

The Never-Before-Campaign for Palestine is a Beirut-based campaign
launched by individuals of different professional backgrounds
including sociologists, political scientists and communications experts

I Resist 01 by Quadraro I Resist 03 by Quadraro I Resist 02 by Quadraro

The Never-Before-Campaign calls for a new approach to support Palestine
and its people, their cause and their resistance movements
This new approach veers away from the traditional competitions
for victim-hood which usually seek to elicit the worlds pity
Pity only yields sympathy

For decades, Palestinians have been treated,at best,as poor unfortunate beings
who might deserve charity and maybe some humanitarian aid
Meanwhile,Israel decides,at its own leisure
which bits of the usurped rights to give back

The Campaign aims at commanding respect
The world does not respect the meek
rather the powerful and the confident
The Palestinian people are victims here
but they are also resilient and determined
The Campaign seeks to communicate this image to the world

I Resist 04 by Quadraro I Resist 05 by Quadraro I Resist 06 by Quadraro

In addition, the image of resistance, that has been suppressed for fear
of being confused with terror,is also and integral part of the campaign
No cosmetics,no facades
A masked gunman is the current image of the Palestinian resistance
whether we like it or not
It is this masked freedom fighter facing the might
of the Israeli army that makes us proud
The campaign does not succumb to
Western sensitivities of the post 9-11 era

The West and the whole world are at fault here
not the Palestinian people or the resistance movements
The Campaign addresses that issue:
Palestine will not wait for Western remorse
that always comes too late
such as for the Holocaust,Rwanda and South Africa

I Resist 08 by Quadraro I Resist 10 by Quadraro I Resist 09 by Quadraro

The Campaign recognizes growing awareness about
the Palestinian cause all over the world and builds on it
It targets different sets of audiences at the same time

The Never Before Campaign has no political
or religious affiliation,it only has one enemy
All those fighting for the same cause are allies to the Campaign
Our purpose is to make those allies as numerous as possible
and to share the credit with them once our cause is victorious

Watch it: long comment is long ^^

Truly, a very noble cause you have chosen here, that makes me proud that you dare to step up and speak with words and art, instead of bullets. Yet... I am from the west, and, if I may quote from your article: "The West and the whole world are at fault here not the Palestinian people or the resistance movements"
I do beg your pardon? You blame me? DA is started by the Americans = also from the "evil" west, and you blame so many others? I shall pretend I have not read that insult, and the other insults directed at the unholy evil west. But enough about my western "unimportant" feelings. If you wish to reach more people, and gain the hearts of the west, it might be wise not to insult the west anymore.

But you are partially right: the people are not to blame. On both sides there are tremendous sufferings.
Resistance movements and the army however, are to blame. They are the ones who wave the guns around. They are the ones who choose to shoot and bomb innocents on both sides of the fence.
Over centuries, it’s proven that war does not work. And of course: art is a great way to spread the word of peace without hatred. (so if you get rid of "I'm not to blame, you are blahblahblah" you will have my support, and probably support from so many others, since you will gain so much more)

There are so many Israel-Palestine peace projects. Why not learn from that and take it a step further? Not this anti-zionistic stuff. We've been through that, and unfortunately, it didn't work.
Why continue to use a trail that brings you no result? It's a useless trail and should be discarded. And sometimes, it's for the best to try something you haven't tried at all, or are disgusted by. Reach out, and shake an Israeli's hand. That person will be no more different from you than you from that person. Compassion and understanding are the key stones, I believe.

[link] is what I'm talking about. Get rid of the hatred blahblah and who knows, your campaign might be added to the list?

Dear :iconquadraro: I don't know what you've been through and I feel horrid about the fact you had to go through all that and there was seemingly no one out there who cared about you or your family. Let me be one person who cares, and please, do believe me when I say that I'm sorry you had to endure all that. You shouldn't have endured all that, you shouldn't have felt all that pain and sorrow. You don't deserve it, your, family, friends and neighbours don't deserve it and guess what: the people on the other side of that fence don't deserve it either. Let's face it: no one deserves it.

I hope you will understand one day, for do you wish the kids of this generation, and upcoming generations, go through the very same thing you've been through? Would you wish for your sons and daughters to grow up in a war torn land?

The best way to end this, is to lay down all weapons, reach out and say: "no more. We will end it today. No more fighting, no more bloodshed, no more pain and sorrow. Today, we will be neighbours, tomorrow we will be friends and the day after, brothers and sisters."

The basic civil rights for children, but also adults, include to live in a world of peace. I have the fortune to live in such a world, yet my heart breaks to see so many people in pain and suffering. There's little I can do, than to preach love and understanding.

As you try to teach me about the Palestine-Israeli conflict, I try to teach you about how this "evil" young lady from the west thinks about what could be a second step to peace and understanding. The first has already been made with the Palestine-Israeli projects (see the link in this comment)

We all have our ways, though I pray to the heavens above that one day, I can celebrate Ramadam with you in the mosque and celebrate a Christmas mass with you in a Synagogue.

After all, whether we are Palestine, Israeli, Dutch, Russian, France or American: we are one people.

Peace, love, justice, understanding and compassion to everyone, on both sides of the fence!

Thank you for reply, yet I'm so sorry to read that you chose to look a given horse in the mouth and wish to be in contradiction. You request awareness, and next moment claim my given awareness is charity.
I'm so sorry to read that. It almost makes me feel like my words were a waste of time and effort, a shame that I've even read this article, actually.
But enough about that, such feelings are truly a waste of time and energy, and the both of us can use our time and energy in a better fashion, I believe.

No matter whether our opinions differ or not, I do hope your son will grow up to become a wise man, like his father is. He deserves so much and I wish you and your family all the luck in the world.
That, is not charity, that is a heartfelt wish for everyone on this world deserves so much.

Interesting article but it, and especially the comments here, show again why this conflict will not be solved anytime soon.
Both sides are pretty much immobilized by their opinions and the mostly biased media coverage in east and west isn't helping either. I see so much hate and racism from both sides here and the article isn't even on the front page for long yet.
It is not helping, it will not solve anything.
And as a (I think)neutral I don't really feel like I can state my opinion on the whole topic here without getting a rude backlash from either of the parties.

I just hope that some day this conflict gets solved in a way that satisfies both.
Peace to Palestine AND Israel. :peace:

That depends, what is justice for you?
If the next generations of both sides can finally live in peace, would you continue to fire the conflict because there was no justice for the suffering of the past generations yet?

"Meanwhile, Israel decides, at its own leisure

Before blaming it all/part of taking something on Isreal; look into their history and what was taken from them and what they've gone through. Matter of fact, you don't have to even look into their history, look at them right now surrounded by nations who want to attacke them and hate them seemingly just because they're there.

Here's something lighthearted to think about: [link]
