Depicted are the three main characters of Preacher; Jesse Custer, Tulip O’Hare, and Cassidy. Each character is holding a stance that represents their character as depicted in artwork from the Italian Renaissance. Jesse is holding the central piece, his right hand depicting the gesture that names Jesus Christ while his left hand is showing the sign of benediction. Both are gestures of a priest. The sign of Benediction is always done on the right hand, doing so on the left hand is a sign of a shady and untrustworthy person, a call back to Jesse’s past before becoming a Priest. Tulip and Cassidy have reverse hand gestures. The palm facing up is a sign of salvation while the palm facing down is a sign of damnation. Tulip has her main palm up signaling that she is there to offer salvation to Jesse from this life as a Priest. Her palm on the other side is down to indicate how she lives a life of damnation. Cassidy is the opposite. His primary palm is down showing that he openly lives a life of damnation as a vampire and through drug abuse and using people. The other palm is up showing how he wishes for the salvation of being a human again, no longer hunted, and to have friends that care for him. All display the glowing halo like visage behind their heads to show they are the main three characters, the unholy trinity on a mission to find God.
