Zephyr and Puma by Pyrosity Zephyr and Puma by Pyrosity
On top, a typical standard model of the Rycker-Mason Zephyr, on the bottom, Janice Portia's heavily modified Puma.

Janice bought her Zephyr originally from a police surplus auction. It was in terrible shape; electronics were shorting all over, the starboard engine was destroyed, the wings were full of bullet holes, and the front sensor array had been pulled off as salvage - though the frame held well, and the cockpit was undamaged.
Over the years she has made many personal modifications and essentially rebuilt it from almost the ground up. The entire remaining port engine was moved back behind the cockpit, mounting where the wings once did. A light cargo freighter engine was mounted on the starboard side, and the nose, cockpit, and frame were trimmed to be sleeker and fit the new body shape. She has also added four 30mm chainguns to replace the torpedo tubes, and a sawn off 57mm hybrid cannon has been mounted inside the tail fin, replacing redundant maneuvering thrusters and their overcomplicated navigation suite.

The Puma retains much of the original zephyr's famed speed, though excels in closer range combat maneuvers thanks to reduced weight.

Yeah, pretty much. You know the pilot's gonna be pissed when you shoot her pride and joy up, especially after she's completely overhauled the navigation system, removed and replaced the starboard engine, re-structured the frame, sawn off the wings, replaced the torpedo tubes with a brand new automatic weapons system and munitions bay.....
