Warmup/speedpaint, only ref was a rough sketch I did a few months ago. 1.5 hrs.

Playing with color palettes, trying to get a better understanding of colors I don't often use, as well as using conservation of detail and contrast to create a focal point.

Thanks! I may do a more detailed design of it sometime, I do like the overall simplicity of it.

Mmm, looks like you mix a British and Russian transport heli together, nice idea.

Also good work here Tom.

To critique it based on your goal, the blue needs to be more muted. I assume your intended focal point is the helicopter (specifically the back of it with the guys), and the blue sky makes me look JUST above it. instead of at it.

You did a good job integrating the sky color with the copter, I noticed that, my suggestion would be to dull the sky a bit, bring out more of the sky color in the helicopter to make it pop out a bit more from the background and add more contrast/detail to the hatch at the rear of the helicopter to match the amount of the two guys standing near it.

Yeah, I definitely see your point about the strong sky blue. Thanks for the critiques, very much appreciate it!

It is, though it's not too refined as of yet. Just something I had in my sketchbook that I figured I'd use for this.
