Se Atle Exodus - Revised by Pyrosity Se Atle Exodus - Revised by Pyrosity
Edit: Updated with revised version. Improved the type and incorporated a small map to provide additional context.

Finished piece, this was my second major project for my Directed Themes course at RMCAD.

It's the culmination of many weeks of work and hopefully that shows. I'm pleased with the result, myself. As mentioned before, it's been a real joy to finally get to apply my own fictional work towards a lengthy college project, using all I've learned so far and having the opportunity to get a lot of feedback on it.

The work pretty much speaks for itself - especially with the "elongated caption" on the side - so I'll just leave it at that.

The setting of your world brings my mind a mixture of the Yugoslav wars, Cold war and Middle-Eastern conflicts of the 70's-80's, wrapped in Eastern European styles. I love it.

An excellent piece. I admire how you can have so many characters in a drawing, yet still give each one enough detail to make them stand out.

Thanks :] It was a good exercise in conservation of details. If you look closely, you can see that the soldiers are not very defined at all; I just used the rough sketch. Also had to force myself to avoid using a teeny tiny brush to do some of those character drawings - the detail wasn't required and would have been lost anyway.

Even so, remind me and I'll post some closeups - there's still a little clarity lost in a few of the rearmost figures (the truck figures in particular) and I like the drawings pretty well.

Great job and story.
Hmm, from seeing the horses, I take it in this world there are still animals and then there's the Mhadyons (anthros)?

Thank you! Yes, the world is populated with as diverse an ecosystem of wild flora and fauna as our own. I'm still debating how much of their evolution I want to set in stone or if I want to leave it up to readers to wonder. In-universe, the commonly held (by Mhadyons) scientific explanation is that they, like humans, evolved over time from various species of mammals, eventually becoming bipedal - which lead to their advancement of intelligence.

Mhadyon translates roughly to "furred people who walk upright"; it's a Cain word that functions as a catch-all term for all the bipedal sapient races of the new world continent. The equivalent in Falid language is Medhyn. (Cain and Falid are the most prevalent languages and something of a standard, most Mhadyon know at least one of them. They share many similarities and are sometimes used in tandem.)

Very interesting, and didn't know that Mhadyon meant that, I thought it was something you made up for a race name.
I had thought for my idea was the human race blasted themselves off with a Biological Obviation Bomb, which then cause a genetic mutation to animals which allowed them to evolve human wise. But have been unsure if to have certain animals evolve, or all, or have where there's the some that evolve and others didn't of the same species.

Well, it is something I made up xD But I wanted to give them a name for themselves that they would use, not having one wouldn't make sense. The Humans have their own names for the Mhadyon; one of which being "aphomgen" which draws from latin/greek roots and means "from the race of man". Common scientific belief (of humans) holds the Mhadyon to be an offshoot of humans. The term is also pretty offensive to most educated Mhadyon.

I've more or less decided that the world will only have a handful of truly separate Mhadyon races, all of them mammalian. It keeps things simpler and it's easier to group them when there aren't lizard or bird people thrown into the mix - not that I have anything against them personally XD

Yeah, I don't want to really deal with them to.
I thought of mammalians too, but not sure for all or separate them like carnivores and vegetarians
