AV-2 UCP by Pyrosity AV-2 UCP by Pyrosity
The AV-1 retrofit served the AFM well after the Third War, but the continued presence of leftover war materiel - especially leftover NWI armor still active - posed a significant threat. The AV-1's aging main weapon system was often insufficient to penetrate and destroy these armored vehicles, and so a second run of AV-2s were produced, to take advantage of the newer model's hybrid cannon and superior agility. An upgrade kit was also designed for the tank, called the Urban Combat Package, which could be applied to both new and first-generation AV-2s. The UCP is similar in function to the NWI's M1A2 TUSK-modified Abrams, adding additional protection for the tank to operate effectively in urban environments. The turret mounted machine gun was also replaced with an automatic grenade launcher, which could be operated remotely from inside the tank by either loader or commander.

While still not quite as armored as the NWI's M1A2 TUSK, and sporting less overall suppressive firepower with just a single coaxial machine gun, the hybrid cannon and superior agility of the UCP was unmatched in main battle tanks.

The AV-2 UCP set a standard for all other MBTs to follow when it was introduced - an agile, powerful base platform with a much improved CASCA system offering top of the line protection. It thus served alongside the AV-1R as the AFM's MBT of choice.

Thanks :3

I always like coming up with interesting bits on stuff like tank barrels, it's part of what defines the tank silhouette and can give it a lot of character.

In this particular tank, the 3 holes on the end are field stabilizers to help the hybrid plasma shell keep from blooming too quickly. They also act as a muzzle brake.

Haha, if I was still into modeling and had the time/skill/motivation, I probably would try.

Thanks!
