some random thing, wanted to show how I think my character's souls look like. I'll explain a bit but have in mind this might contain spoilers for the comic.
When it comes to humans, white is usually associated to "purity", life, light, etc, and it's the default color for human souls, black is often associated to "corruption", death, darkness, etc, and it represents negative emotions and dark energy. When humans are born they have a completely white soul and throughout their life it might or might not retain that color, it depends on how much dark energy it would have drawn; usually anything that involves willingly hurting other beings will generate dark energy and the more dark energy the more corrupted their soul becomes, the amount of dark energy is based on factors such as: - Severity of the action (murder is the one that draws more dark energy and might be enhanced by the circumstances) - How much negavtive impact it has over the victim - Level of awareness - Remorse or redemption In most cases, humans can go throught the rest of their life with barely noticeable changes in their souls, but of course there are exceptions. Another thing to have in mind is that negative emotions are natural to humans, but these might be enhanced by dark energy, a soul with a great deal of dark energy might and will impact on the person's emotions negatively. Having negative emotions not necessarily generates dark energy, but dark energy does generate negative emotions.
Now in the big scheme of things, when you have beings of different species their souls tend to match their nature and color scheme, giving a wide variety of souls with different properties. To have in mind, most souls usually have some sort of core that represents the purest (and vulnerable) part of their soul, it might have different shapes according to the species; for humans it's a galaxy-shaped core and once dark energy reach it, it gets corrupted, it might or might not be healed depending on the level of corruption.
Kira: Since she's a half demon, her soul is a mixture of white and black. In kira's species black represents mostly the nature of the shadows but it also represents dark energy. If Kira would kill more humans and devour their souls, her soul would turn progressively more black until becoming something like Dante's soul and she'd be able to unlock her demon self. Kira's soul has a "leak", this means the dark energy is/was starting to leak to the core of her soul. Mad: Mad's soul is red because it's abnormal, it has special properties. It has several leaks and cracks associated with traumas. When he was alive his soul was probably white with some black leaks. Vincent: Empty. Vincent's soul (and vampires' souls in general) are very curious to me. I wanted to incorporate the idea that vampires have no soul, but I always considered the concept kind of disturbing, and since souls are a very important part of the lore, I wanted them to have something that was more, like, puzzling. Why is it completely white? well, always associated white not only with purity but also emptiness and death, vampires' souls are also misterious and hard to "read". There's dark energy around it, associate with, well, their ability to feed and use dark energy. Lilith: heart-shaped core, pink is associated with her succubus nature and black with dark energy as Lilith is not precisely "good". Victor: Kind of spoilery, but Victor has a human soul with a mixture of magic energy. T!Kira: Human-ish core with several leaks, it mostly represents the struggle of fighting against corruption. T!Mad: Beautiful. Dante: Default shadow demon's soul, black-hole shaped core. Luka: Trickster demon's soul. Represents a twisted nature. Abraham: Human soul with a mixture of magic energy. Abe's soul is curious because green can be associated with life while white can be associated with death, I might work a little more on his soul though, the point is that it represents Abe's condition of being neither dead or alive.
Huh, concidering how bright his soul is, pretty much on par with Victor's even, Abe is a quite nice fella it seems. Tho that makes me question his reasonning around why he does grave digging/robbery, cause he did get a curse in the first place. Maybe his parental figure was one in the first place and he's doing it out of naive habit?
And i have to ask, let's say a vampire's soul was more "pure", would it still have the same look at vincent's?
He is! he's really friendly, though, he sometimes can be mean or rude but more due to unawareness/ignorance rather than spite. He started when he was still "alive" as a way to get easy money, now he just do it to get more "friends" and because he likes collecting stuff
Vampires' souls look like this regardless of "pureness" though they don't work like human souls so I don't think there's how to apply the term "pure" to their souls; maybe the only thing that would change would be the amount of dark energy around it but I've not thought a lot about it, for me it's supposed to represent emptyness and that's why the look more like a soul-shaped hole
gracias :3, haha cuando lo postee no pense que tendria tantos favoritos, en realidad incluso dude de si deberia postearlo y mas que todo lo hice para tener la información en algun lugar donde no se perdiera X'D
