The Doctor
When I was seven, I was diagnosed with emotions.
"Poor girl." I heard them say. "She'll never survive this one."
I laid with my face towards the ceiling on the cold examination table, listening to them discuss my fate. I felt something breaking in my chest and something burning inside my throat. A small tear slipped down my cheek.
"Doctor! Look at this!" Shrieked my mother, "Something is coming out of her eye."
The doctor rushed over to me and wiped the tear from my cheek. He touched the top of my head as he whispered, "I am so sorry." And then he turned to my mother. "It's a tear. It means that she is sad."
"Sad?" My mother asked inquisitively.
"It's one of her emotions. This doesn't attack the same way that normal diseases do, there are all sorts of different symptoms. Right now, she is sad and the only way that I know how to explain it is that she is feeling down."
"What do you mean by down?"
"Her emotions can best be described as ones that are up—when she is feeling good, and

Lion- Pencil drawing
I really enjoyed working on this drawing of an African lion. I think they are one of earth's most amazing animals and a great example of sexual dimorphism, which I tried to capture in the super fluffy mane of this male lion and his piercing stare. Within 20 years, the population of lions in Africa has declined by 43%- mostly due to habitat loss as a result of increasing human populations pushing into their territory. If you've watched BBC Dynasties, you'll also know that their habitat loss also means less natural prey for them to hunt and they turn to attacking livestock. Farmers resort to poisoning and killing these beautiful animals while others hunt lions as trophies. I really hope that lions are still around for future generations and that this drawing depicts a living breathing example of nature's resilience rather than one of a mythical creature of the past.

Cat face- Pencil drawing
I tried a new technique for this piece- the fur details were first etched in with the tip of an empty ball point pen before shading over with graphite pencils. The darkest parts were done with a carbon pencil. This was drawn on smooth bristol instead of my normal drawing paper so that my pen wouldn't rip through during the etching process. I think it turned out quite nice but definitely has room for improvement. Once again the scanner has made weird things happen to the texture and tone Sweating a little...
Let me know what you think!

Ready set
This piece took way too long to finish (drafted and outline left in my drawing pad for 2? years) but it's finally done! This was actually a really good practice for me because there were so many details and different textures (please... no more tack please I think I've fainted.) . Found a scanner but it really did a number on the subtle shading, especially the lighter areas.
Completely almost exclusively using mechanical pencils (0.3 mm, 0.5 mm) 3H, HB, 3B, 6B and 2B carbon pencil.

Chief
First time visiting USA- amazing landscapes! Took this quick shot in the lower Antelope Canyons of a formation resembling the side view of an Indian chief. There were still crowds even though we went off season but quiet enough to take some photos without people in it :) I'm not usually a photographer but I thought this was a cool eerie picture.

Hello there C:
I'm a 23 year old student in New Zealand who loves music and passes time with art. My studies often take up too much of my time, leaving only the annual breaks for me to draw. But when I do have time, I'm obsessed with my graphite pencils :)
I absolutely adore animals and wildlife, and as you can see, they are my main art subjects (I've also watched pretty much every documentary David Attenborough has narrated...)
I'm completely self-taught and always looking for tips and art supply recommendations so hit me up!
