I got bored tonight and decided to draw this up, mostly for myself so I never forget how to do my own bby girl's eyes
but I decided to stick it here on DA in case anything happens to my comp and for people to see, of course. The Bottom Row Middle eye is the completed product while the Bottom Row Right corner eye is a version that's probably closer to how her eyes would look in the Naruto show style.
Step 1, Line Art: Eyes are actually the first step I take whenever I design a character, to me they're the most important part because I believe our eyes are what typically portray the most emotion. I wanted Ayumu to have a very serious resting face (Similar to myself in real life, her eyebrows are straight ripped from mine just thinner and neater), I also didn't want her to have extremely feminine eyes with super heavy thick eyelashes like a few of my other characters. You can also see where I drew her very arched brows that give her kind of that serious stare/glare like Neji, and the red lines of her eye-shadow.
Step 2, Iris: Following up on my line art I drew up her iris, which has a fiery-gold base color that I love (Even if you don't really see it as much in the final product). When working with the Iris of my characters eyes I always keep the Iris's layer above the layer of her eyelashes until i'm totally done with it, I also used a tool in my Art Program, Clip Studio, called "Border Effect" to make that automatic black outline around the gold so I don't have to struggle making a perfect circle like I know my OCD self would.
Step 3, Shadow: With this next step I just darkened the base color by a couple of shades, then used the "Clip to layer below" (So it the color would stay within the iris) and filled in the whole iris before erasing a bit to make that crescent shape and lastly using the Blend tool to give it that blur effect.
NOTE: I don't bother giving Ayumu a pupil because in her Clan is like the Hyuga, in art design, and don't have pupils.
Step 4, Glow: All I do here is create a new layer, clip it to the iris again, and change the layer from "Normal" to "Add Glow" and make a circle/oval shape with the base color of the iris. I love how it gives Ayumu's eyes a look of life and fire at the same time.
Step 5, Particles: Now is where I tend to confuse myself, the partical layers. I split this into two "Add Glow" layers, red and gold, and just dot around the iris with the base gold and the red color shown in the corner of the middle eye's box -- then I use the "Blend" tool again to blur them just like I did for Step 4. I do these partical effects because they, combined with our next step, give her eyes a burning look I love because it feels...well, like Ayumu. She can be determined, stubborn, and passionate. She'd be a redhead if that wasn't pretty much a reserved color for the Uzumaki clan!
Step 6, Embers: This step isn't much different from Step 5, I just make another separate "Add Glow" layer, take a vibrant orange color. and make diamond shapes around the iris, then blend them.
Step 7, Last touch-ups: We're starting to get close to those final touches, by the time I get here I'm completely done with the iris; I've stopped, zoomed out, taken a long look to make sure I'm happy, then finally layered the Iris under her eyelashes and erased the bits that stick out. I also shade the whites of her eyes a bit, give it that extra bit of detail.
Step 8, Eye shine: This is the last part, adding that white shine to the eyes and touching up her eye-shadow with some shininess because I can.
