Skinstrip mask by Puzzels Skinstrip mask by Puzzels
My SFX-school exam piece. Made of foam latex.
The eye is photoshoped.

My inspiration was a picture by Dave McKean. www.davemckean-collector.co.uk… image 16 under hardbacks.

If you want to see other angels of the piece or without the photoshoped eye, you can here fav.me/d2ggvxl

And here's the sculpt: puzzels.deviantart.com/art/Ski…

From suggester "I am suggesting Skinstrip mask by ~Puzzels because I adore the textures. The mask is very expressive and is beautifully crafted." I love the variety of textures, especially the strong contrast of the peeled outer shell against the smooth underside. Though it is the texture and especially the shading around and including the eye that really captures my attention. ( Suggested by cinderette and Featured by Thebuild )

Image 16 . . . Got it.
You certainly captured what inspired this piece.
Not usually a fan of the Dark/Horror art stuff. But this is really good. The attention to detail on the skin texture is just :wow: Wow.
And the lighting just brings it all to that extra level of, Ooomph! Nice work.

How'd the exam go? Did you get a good grade?

I'm wondering if it would be okay if I attempted to recreate this for a YouTube video. I'd love to try and bring it to life! Thanks. :D

Nowhere. Unless I make it all over. I lent the form to my former sfx teacher, and I never got them back.
He, nor I, had the positive for mould anyway, cos it was another girls headcast.
So this is it. A few old test pieces and some pictures.

I am seriously planing to recreate this. If you are still intressted, send me a message.
My head cast is occupided by a cat mask atm, but as soon as I mould it, recreating this mask as a silicon pullover mask will be my top priority.

This is so fricking cool, so detailed and unique and creepy yet so beautiful. These kids of things are the bases for hit horror movies, it'd maybe be worth asking around if you know people, actually.
Really really cool thoug man, the daily d is well deserved. Awesome work.

Thanks! :D The detailing took time, so I'm glad it shows.
Unfortunately I have no marketing skills, so I don't even know whom I should have started asking.
I would actually love to do something for a creature movie once.

Wicker Face! He strips the flesh off of his victims and makes themed baskets out of it, braiding it wicker style. Real impressive, what kind of sfx school did you go to

Hehe, nice serial killer theory ;D
And thanks. I went to [link] back when it was a 6 months course. 4 months to learn the basic technique and 2 for the final project.
The final project was to make an original fully covering multi piece foam latex mask.
In my case it was this.
