From time to time, I get the question, "Why are these things so expensive?" The answer is simple. Since a good handmade plush is not mass produced, it takes a lot of SKILL and LABOUR in order to create a good one.
First, to learn the art of embroidery and sewing is a difficult skill in itself that often involves endless nights of wasted fabric, threads and patterns in order to get that right end product. Only after years of tutorials and troubleshooting can one expect to gain this skills required to produce a plush of quality. Also, the materials used are premium fabrics that are more soft and huggable than the ones that China manufactured products use. Good quality threads, needles and a decent sewing machine are also expensive.
Finally, the sheer volume of man hours that goes into producing a good handmade plush can be anywhere from 10-100 per individual item. Like any other skill, a quality plush encompasses a lot of time, money and passion. There is also a lot of blood, sweat and tears to ensure the end product is satisfactory. So, please be respectful of prices and keep these points in mind when you think a good handmade plush is too expensive. You are not only paying for the plush, but paying for the endless amount of time, skill and labour that goes into making one.
Like any good, handmade item, the artist will leave part of their soul in their creation, and will always ensure you get your money's worth for your investment. ❤
Sincerely,
Ann
