Taking a more personal look at the people behind the deviantART admin symbols.

How did you first discover deviantART?

:dummy: It's a funny story! I used to draw on my desk (yes, with a pen over the board) and one day, when I arrived to school and sat at my usual desk I found a note by one of my drawings:

"Hey, give me your deviantArt account dude! Mine is ZZGRST"

"DeviantArt".

That day I created my account and uploaded 4 pieces. And my DA adventure began as one of the best things I've discovered in my life! :la:

What was it about dA that made you want to stay?

:dummy: Probably the incredibly huge amount of inspiration you can get just browsing a few minutes. Of course, that was the first impression. Friends, feedback, impressive art, amazing community spirit... there are so many reasons why DeviantArt is the perfect place to feel home. Since I joined, I've always felt this website as a real place where artists can improve not only watching other artists, but receiving feedback from hundreds of deviants who just want to help, expecting nothing in exchange! That, my friend, is community spirit  Something priceless nowadays.

What is the story behind your username?

:dummy: Hahaha quite simple! My real name is Marta, and one of my fave genres, Anime sooo Anime + Marta = Animarta, backwards -> Atramina :giggle:

What do you remember of your childhood in regards to art?

:dummy: I've been drawing since I was a baby. I've liked it since the very first time I tried. My parents tried to boost that interest by paying for lessons of oil-painting, watercolour, and charcoal drawing for five years when I was 7/8. Even if I wanted to be good, I wasn't at all :giggle: but that never stopped my interest on art. I always loved it, as I love it today.

Was there anything or anyone in particular that prompted your choice of art form?

:dummy: Probably manga and anime. It always fascinated me, and always had a huge influence on everything I draw :) Ranma, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball... all those tv series are quite guilty of my passion to art!

Who or what motivates you to continue creating?

:dummy: Basically, my friends! Yasny-chan, OneFreeInternet, rydi1689, Exillior, archanN, and many more who are a daily source of joy and inspiration!

Of your own work, which has the most meaning to you and why?

:dummy: Do you feel alive by Atramina
Right now, this one, cause I spent a lot of time and effort on it, and made it while being in the middle of a delicate emotional situation. It has not really a direct meaning, but for me, it'll always be special.

What can you reveal of projects you are working on for deviantART? Personal projects?

:dummy: Right now I don't really have any project, apart from improving as artist and do a good job as Gallery Moderator! Anyway, I'd love to collaborate with Yasny-chan and OneFreeInternet. Both are incredibly talented artists and awesome friends

What would you like to achieve in the long term and short term on dA? In life?

:dummy: Right now I'm focused on Digital Art gallery, trying my best to improve the community spirit and boost the audience's interest in this gallery.

In life... that's a hard question! What I want is to be happy with my boyfriend, found a family, and have a quite normal life, mixing art, my passion, with telecommunications, my profession.

What movies did you enjoy most?

:dummy: Fantasy and Sci-fi :)

My faves are Jim Henson's Labyrinth, The Neverending Story and Inception.

What type of music do you listen to? Specific groups/artists?

:dummy: Rock, Indie, some instrumental, some electronic, pop...

My favourite band is Muse  They always know how to cheer me up and inspire me with their music! Other bands I love: Franz Ferdinand, Nickelback, The Offspring, Nelly Furtado, ...

Which books could you just not put down?

:dummy: Right now, the "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga, from George RR Martin. I highly recommend it to EVERYONE!!

What foods can you never seem to resist? Drinks?

:dummy: Asian food! And soup! I could eat soup foreveeeeeer :la: I just love it! And asian food will always be my favourite! Specially Gyoza dumplings and fried noodles! OM NOM NOM! :iconfatlaplz:

What are your pet peeves on dA and in general?

:dummy: :pointr: I answer to every single comment (or try to!) even if I do it weeks later!

:pointr: I don't like watchers who watch me expecting me to watch them back... I think the +Watch button is something to follow someone's art, not to get more watchers via forcing the other person to watch you back :)

:pointr: I always check the DDs at 9.00 am  (when they're released daily in my country) :), or in case I'm sleeping, it's the first thing I do when I turn on my PC.

Something random about yourself that you wish to share?

:dummy: Mmm My name is Marta Ramírez, I was born in Madrid, November the 8th of 1986. I love asian food (noodleeeees!), fashion, videogames, manga, colorful things and boys with glasses. I hate sadness, vegetables, onion, wasps, lies, extremely muscled guys and destructive fanatism.
I finished my Telecommunications degree and I'm completing my master on Networking and Telematic services while I work in the mornings :)

What tips can you offer to better oneself in his or her art? In
life?

:dummy: 1. Never underestimate other artists' critiques. Read them twice, get the advice. Be grateful cause someone spent time on giving you a hand :)

2. Try again, don't give up. It wont be amazing the first 10 times, but you'll definitively see a progress, and that's priceless, and indicates you're in the right way!

3. Research, look for new techniques, browse, try, learn from other's mistakes, and from your own! Keep in mind that everything can help you improve your art, even looking to the people's poses while you're in the bus or subway! :) Life is art itself!

What does ART mean to you?

:dummy: Art is my passion, my escape, my love. It helps me in my daily life to get rid of the stress, to feel good, to disconnect, to be myself and to open my mind to other people through art. Art is a universal language!

Is there anything else you wish to say?

:dummy: Thank You so much Travis for the interview  and thank you so much to all my friends and fellow-deviants for being a constant support and joy in my life  I love you!

:omg: I used to do that to desks at school too! People from other classes used to come by and stare. I think I was an urban legend. Nobody knew it was "me", of course. :XD:
