Apollo and Daphne by punkydumplin Apollo and Daphne by punkydumplin
Alright, another piece put in! This is for :iconcolor-me-club:'s contest, "Ancient." I figured a piece of Greek Mythology would suit it nicely. :) The story of Apollo and Daphne was always one of my favorites, and even though everyone has already drawn them, I wanted to try my hand at it! :D This piece took me quite a while, and my hands sure do hurt! It's a traditional inking, done on 11"x14" paper. :) Hope everyone enjoys the piece!

I've started coloring your lines! The version I have up now[link] I'll move to scraps when I've added shading and background :)

So I have the two characters colored, now I just have to figure out some kind of background....are the two strips under the furthest right root that curls upward, are those supposed to be anything specific? I'm not sure what to do with them, because they could either be part of the roots, or some kind of pathway in the distance. Also, is it okay if I end up pairing this with a stock background? I've seen other people use that technique, and although it's kind of a cop out for drawing my own background, I'd like to try it to see what it looks light. Also, my scanner will probably distort some of the colors, so be warned.

I can't wait to see what you've done! And worry not about putting in a stock background, I've used that technique before, haha! As for the two lines there, I was trying to make them part of the roots, those weird stringy things that show up in them, if you know what I mean. :)

Sweet! I was able to fix that minor detail when I added in the background, which I think (and hope) fits extremely well: Too Late...

Hope you like it :D !

your lines are always nice!! You should really start a coloringbook!
I would probably add a few loose leaves and add more detail in her hair where it meets the leaves

I have seriously considered it, though my problem is none of my line arts are any bit cohesive! D:

LOL Alright, you'll have to! :D It might take a while for me, though, I'd have to find a theme I can stick with for 20 or so pictures!

well consider your audience and then think of a theme. it could even be a short story (like you mentioned before with a graphic novel). We'll have to email each other about it.

Just wanted to say that this is my favorite so far and even if you don't win the contest, I'm coloring it anyway because it's just so awesome.
