I'd like to start off saying that this looks great, and is far better than what I can do right now.

You obviously show an understanding for cloth movement, and armor design. However, I expected the feet and legs to have more of a glow to them since he's standing on a seal. (Is that a unique, original seal you made or is that one in game? I'm not a pally in game, so I can't tell). I think it should have more light then shadow around the feet and legs, and maybe a blue tint to it.

The hammer looks nice, but I think it should look bigger. It looks like a tiny square block.

Other than that, the art is great. The color is fantastic. Your work is one of the reasons why I continue to draw WoW fanart. Thank you for showing this to us.

This is fantastic. When I think of Uther, this is very much what comes to mind. You've done a beautiful fan art, it shows nobility and dedication, the expression on his face is stoic and determined. It embodies very much what a heroic figure of an iconic game should look like.
His cape, along with the rest of the fabric, flows very nicely, and the color scheme is superb.
Unlike in the game, his boots do not look ridiculous, they form to the legs wonderfully and do not look clunky and strange. Thank you for doing that!
The hammer also looks divine, not too big, not too small, very realistic in size.
He's not too muscular and outlandish, which is a relief, as most human males in game look silly. The runic circle at his feet is well done as well, it doesn't obscure anything, it fits in rather well.
The left hand is slightly smaller, a little out of proportion, but it doesn't distract from the rest of the piece, therefore, doesn't really need to be changed.
All in all, you get every star available for producing an excellent piece of fan art. Exactly what I like to see!

Thank you!
I have to figure out a way to fix that hand without ruining it =) (all in 1 layer)

Thanks for the valuable critique!
(i'm really digging this new feature on DA)

The critique was my pleasure!
I'm digging this feature too :) It's really neat. :D

Don't worry too much about his hand! It's really not a problem overall ;). The entire piece is fabulous as it is, the hand is just nit-picking. :)

the armor is sick the head is really cool the mace is awesome the only thing to me when i picture uther he is less slender this then more stocky built great job either way

I agree, i've designed far better hammers after this piece. I like straight up blocky hammers but i could've done better on this.

About the proportions, sometimes i still struggle finding the right cartoony proportions while drawing WoW stuff. I'm influenced a lot by some artists like Senri Kita, who make tall, slender characters.
But i got it right with King Arthas though, for an example.
Big arms and shoulders, small head, thick, stocky legs.

Why can't Paladin armor in WoW look that amazing? As usual great job! :D
pulyx's avatar
Actually, it's getting pretty damn close.
The fact that WoW textures are so crisp and well painted now a days makes my job kind of pointless =)

You've got a point there. I love how Paladin T9 looked.. except the goofy shoulders and helmet. Can't complain too much though if I look back at the old vanilla-WoW armor.. ^^;

This.... is awesome! :D Just how I pictured him from Warcraft 3.
Tehe but does he have a metallic chin? o.o
And the mace looks like a building block :0
But yus, I like this! I will add it to my very special favorites. :D
pulyx's avatar
It's not a metalic chin dude haha. It's his beard, its white+redhair.

And his mace is supposed to look simple. Paladins are simple men.

But it looked like it <.<

And yes they are ;)

really nicely done! The coloring and pose is really nice. And you've created a really nice depth in the picture as well! Awesome job!

The cape is really wierd though and the perspective of his weapon is a bit wierd too. By that, I mean the end of his weapon. Perhaps you should tilt it a bit to make it alligned with the rest of the weapon.
