Description

Wondering what a mammalian predator the size of a theropod dinosaur would look like, I arrived at a very similar bodyplan, since it's not uncommon for mother nature to arrive at similar solutions for similar problems.
Teratotherium titanis is the largest species of the genus Teratotheridae ("monster beasts") from the clade of Macroraptora ("large plunderers"), a group of large predatory mammals belonging to the clade Coelotheria ("hollow beasts"). The Coelotherians are mammalian megafauna similar to dinosaurs whose common ancestor descended from modern day herpestids, or mongooses. The physical adaptations that enabled them to reach great sizes initially developed as adaptations that allowed these animals to deal with extreme temperatures following the Quaternary-Steirocene extinction event, the Holocene extinction that killed off 75% of life on earth, caused by the Antarctic flood basalt eruption from the Erebus Upper-Mantle Plume or ERUMAP.
