I spelled this 'genie' for the sake of the head canon meme, but I am now going to resume using the spelling djinni.  Once again, this info relates specifically to the djinni in the Miss Prince/VDBiF universe.

Djinni are a (usually) nomadic, magical race very much like fairies.  It is likely that fairies, djinni and elves all evolved from a single people. I wouldn't say that to their faces though...

Some settled down centuries ago, and, noticing that the humans did not suffer from some things that their own people did, they deliberately set out to marry humans. This led to them getting a reputation for seducing humans and they were called succubi and incubi. It is a reputation that persists to this day.

They have a lifespan of about 150-160 years

They have a very high magical aptitude, comparable to fairies.

Unlike fairies, they use magic for specific things and there are rules about what magic should and shouldn't be used for.  This is due to their noticing that excess magic use sometimes leads to vampirism, or much more commonly, death.

Their magical specialities are self-transformation and wind magic.  They can transform themselves into smoke (this may be where vampires learned to turn into mist from originally) which they sometimes do for travelling purposes or to hide.  They can also turn themselves into animals.

Some djinni have vampiric tendencies and others have fangs even though they don't seem to need blood to live.  This is usually the case in the settled peoples, suggesting that they had some vampires many, many generations back.

Like fairies, they can be very spiteful... they're good at curses.  Some witches study with djinni and not fairies.

As I mentioned, they are nomadic.  They originate from Gaia.  They can be found on most of Gaia and have been found roaming Anima as well.  They used to frequent Earth but not any more.  They tend not to have ships and so also avoid Calypso.

They don't eat other humanoids, but used to kidnap them.

Because the use of actual magic is limited by their laws, they are quite good at alchemy. Although this still comes with rules and regulations as to what it is and isn't to be used for.

Having children with other species is possible but rare.  They tend to keep to themselves.

As I said, double post today.

It's possible I will be late with day 7 and may have to skip it and do it later because I am still researching pixies.

Folklore Head Canon Challenge Day 5 - HarpyOnce again, this information relates specifically to harpies found in the Otherworlds of Miss Prince/VDBiF.
Harpies are bird-like women.  They have the head and torso of a woman and the wings and feet of a bird.
They have a life span of 100-120 years.
They are predators and will eat anything or anyone they can catch.  They also scavenge and steal food, since it's easier to eat.

They live in clans on mountains or in great forests.  Each clan has a queen.
Their hair is actually more akin to feathers.  They are diverse in father pattern and colour.

They are female only.  They take partners from other species.  If the child is female, it will most likely be a harpy.  If the child is male, it will be more akin to its father.  Or it may just sicken and die.  Magical genes can be tricky.
Some harpies are in fact, sirens.  Though we think of sirens today as mermaids, originally they were depicted as winged women, ver

Folklore Head Canon Challenge Day 7 - Pixie Though 'fairy' and 'pixie' may be used interchangeably these days and there are many similarities the two races are not the same and it is said they even had a war.
Pixies are about half the size (or less) of an average human.  Unlike fairies they have wings and tails.  These vary in type; some have bat wings, others insect wings, etc.  The tails are like those of a lion, but without fur except on the brush.
They often appear bedecked with jewels and clad in silk and other fine materials.  This combined with the wings may be where we get the twinkly sort of fairy from...
Regarding the wings, that they vary in type suggests some kind of magical self-modification long ago.  Possibly, again, to do with an ancient war.  There is a tale of them having had a dispute with fairies over some territory.  The fairies tried to take it but the pixies fought back and won.
Pixies, like fairies, may be found in a specific a
