Miss Prince/VDBiF universe only. And I really, really mean it because my elves are different in every book universe o.o Also I just realised I have a lot of elves I guess.
Elves look human aside from their pointy ears. They are roughly the equivalent of humans on Gaia having populated a great deal of the planet, having many different countries and cultures and not being terribly magically inclined as a whole.
However they share their planet with a lot of very magically inclined races and tend to have a lot of weapons and weapons training to make up for it. They are not completely devoid of magical ability and are very good at crafting magical items or enchanting ordinary items. They can become very skilled in magic indeed. But there is a tendency for elves to snub magical teachings outside of enchantment because almost every other race on the planet looks down on them for not being magical enough.
Though it is easy to mistake them for fairies... don't. There is a particularly bitter history between the two species. Fairies were not always content to stay put and they had many periods in history where they tried to take over other bits of Gaia with little success. They targeted elvish areas particularly because they saw them as weak and defenceless for their lack of magical prowess.
Though it was quite easy for fairies to take over a place, it was very difficult for them to hold for very long, so there were bursts of occupation all over the place. When they gave up trying to occupy territory they took to raiding and there was little anyone could do about it.
As mentioned above elves are native to Gaia but they can also be found in small populations on Anima, the odd one on Calypso and there are even teeny tiny populations on Earth.
They can and do have children with other species, mostly humans, but it is not terribly common.
There are too many elvish cultures and populations to really talk about. They are just as diverse as humans are on Earth and though they are a little different to humans, exactly how varies from country to country just the same.

And yes, in every book universe my elves work differently so this is strictly Miss Prince/VDBiF only. Even more so than all those other times I said that XD

Folklore Head Canon Challenge Day 21 - SuccubusMiss Prince/Vampires Don't Belong in Fairytales universe only blah blah.
Some people refer to a succubus as a demon, others as a fairy. There are a great many similar creatures in folklore. The main similarity is that they sleep with humans either by tempting them when they are awake or during sleep. There is some overlap with vampires.
In the Otherworlds, a succubus/incubus is a sub-type of djinni. They may have wings and/or tails, suggesting some kind of crossbreeding with pixies. That pixie and djinni magic share some similarities suggests co-operation between the two races at some point and that both pixies and succubi are good at getting into houses at night is highly suspect.
They are somewhat handicapped magic-wise compared to regular djinni and this too suggests a parallel with fairy changelings, though they are much rarer.
They usually try to hide their wings and tails as these give away their nature.

Next day:

Folklore Head Canon Challenge Day 23 - Lamia In mythology Lamia was a woman cursed to devour her own children. Other female figures have been referred to as lamiae though and there are several half-dragon/serpent, half women creatures around in folklore.
In the Otherworlds a lamia is a type of demi-fairy, half-woman, half-dragon. They have very long, scaly tails, claws and always have fangs.
Though they resemble naga, the two species are separate. It is highly inadvisable to mistake one for the other.
They are solitary creatures and very aggressive. They will eat anything and anyone. They also drink blood, not that that is much of a statement when you've just said that they eat people.
They like to live in caves much like dragons do.
Though they can speak and are sentient, they are much more like a beast than a person. Some of their behaviour resembles that of snakes.
They are quite rare. How
