Life of Toden Ch. 5-7 Review (Preview)
Hello again, everyone. Welcome back to my Fanfiction Reviews, and today we’re catching up on :iconDJNetwork:’s iconic fanfic series, The Life of Toden. Today, we’re going onto the last three chapters currently out, which actually have some game-changing events in the story. Unfortunately, I’m going alone this time, since I’ve had my fair share of people for a while, and the girls are on vacation.
[Cut to “my” MOTDs/Eir’Reyas out on Little Island, enjoying the countryside]
    With that established, let’s begin!
For those of you who don’t remember what happened, here’s a brief recap; after Toden was able to escape from Sailor Moon, she returned to an angry Kaolinite. Furious at the Daimon’s “failure” Kaolinite tries to kill Toden, who is able to escape for a time but eventually is recaught by the witch. Makoto, back in her civilian f

Jellax: Salvation's Lament
Sam rushed through the hallways, trying to find the inventory. He wasn’t totally familiar with the egg-white halls of the science wing, at least not enough to know every room or even how big the wing was, but he had seen the Inventory many times. On his way to classes, or even just hanging out around the area during a break or lunch period, he had noticed people going into and coming out of a small room behind a windowless wooden door. At the time, when he saw the word “Inventory,” he had given it barely a thought; after all, why was a simple storage space important to him, a mere student? Now, though, it was perhaps the most important thing he had to find.
On the other hand, Sam also knew that it was the first place that many other figures would search for first as well. Scavengers would be looking for the exact same thing as him, while Jellax would seek to remove any dangers from their environment. The young man did not know how

Jasmine's New World
“Ugh, come on! There’s gotta be something here…” Princess Jasmine poured over the scroll for what felt like the hundredth time. Putting it down, she rubbed her weary eyes and her aching temples, trying to fight off the pounding headache she had gotten. Sighing, she leaned back a bit, muttering, “Ten months since our marriage, and still I haven’t found anything…” It had been hard for Jasmine—not because of anything with Aladdin. Sure, they had their disagreements and arguments like any other couple, but theirs had been a joyful marriage. Still, that didn’t mean there weren’t other problems the two had to deal with. Putting aside the event with Hercules, some of their enemies were still around—Mirage almost enslaved Eden, Saleen used a potion to hypnotize Aladdin (and it seemed the mermaid had taken an interest in Jasmine as well), the Amazons attempted to “recruit” Jasmine a second tim

Francisco's Dilemma
Scene opens to Francisco eating his lunch at the stands, when he reaches for his helmet he sees the note Lynn left for him.
Francisco: [Confused] Huh, what’s this? [Picks it up and reads it, looking uncomfortable as he does.]
Random Player: Hey, Francisco, game’s starting.
Francisco: Uh, coming! [Puts the note away and gets his helmet on, heading to the diamond]
French Narrator: One game later…
[Francisco is sitting at a table in the lunchroom, mindlessly tapping the tip onto the paper, looking depressed]
Sam: [Comes up to him] Hey little bro, how’s it hanging?
Francisco: [Surprised, he looks up to her][Absent-mindedly] Oh, hi Sam…
Sam: [Concerned, she sits next to him] Hey, you okay Francisco?
Francisco: [Sighs sadly] No, not really… someone pulled a mean prank on me earlier—
Sam: WHAT?! [Gets up, astounded][Infuriated] Who did it?! I’ll protest! I’ll sue! Then I’ll rip their lungs out!

Fanfic Recommendations #6
    Hey everyone,
I know it’s been a while since I got more fanfic recommendations done, but when you have college and can’t say no to a lot of people, it can become a handful. I wanted to get this done sooner, but college, as well as the fact that I have so many people constantly wanting to talk to me, made it difficult to write this (I really need to hold my dedication of taking time off the Internet, but I keep getting caught up with not saying “no”). Still, I wanted to do something, so here’s my current new list of fanfiction recommendations. However small it might be.
    So, let’s get started!
MLP:FiM
Trixie’s Getting Back On Her Hooves: This was one of the first fanfictions I read when I got into the Brony fandom, and it is still one of the best I’ve ever read! The basic idea behind it is that it’s a fan version of what happened after Boast Busters, where Trixie

Record of Piril, Part 1: Creation and the Aimeh
Piril is a marred world, one that has suffered many tragedies and dangers throughout its life. Once, it was proud and incredible; a glittering blue jewel in the vast reaches of the Void, traveling through Known and Unknown Worlds and discovering all manner of new creatures. Its people held vast power and potential over the scientific and magical arts, allowing for glorious superscience, amazing mysticism, and powerful manatech. From the main world, the three central species of aimeh, emoch, vy’shun, fey, and human lived together in unity and assisted one another in their ongoing discoveries.
Alas, such things were not invincible; after a great tragedy, Piril had lost almost everything; its science was gone, its magic disappeared, its peace shattered. But perhaps worst of all was the direct loss to Arakerish, leading some to doubt that the Seven Who Are One ever existed in the first place. But first, we must return to the beginnings of this wo

The Vomutark
At the Dawn of Days was Arakerish and the Aklossi,
Perfect, beautiful, and dwelling in the highest form of love.
But soon, not all would be well for The Seven Crowned One and His Children.
For within the ranks of Those Who Dwell Beyond, rebellion was stirring.
Seven Aklossi had joined together and were displeased with their position. They believed that if The Seven Who Are One gave them power over the All, then they should be Arakerish’s equals. Better yet, since Arakerish chose not to participate, the Aklossi should have taken Arakerish’s position.
Most of the Aklossi scolded their brethren, and even Arakerish Himself warned Her wayward children they did not know what they desired. The discordant Aklossi became enraged and fled to the darkest reaches of the Void. Following them were the Aklossi who sympathized with their cause, who too were ungrateful for what Arakerish had done.
In the dark reaches of the Void, these seven brooded and moaned, their anger turned to rage, a

Emerald's Rebellion
“Emerald?” Salem asked as she knocked on her door. Upon a lack of response, Salem grimaced a bit; since Cinder’s disappearance at Haven, Emerald had… not been herself, to say the least. As much as the Grimm-Blooded hated to admit it, it always pained her heart to see the young girl so sad. And this was worse than anything beforehand. Even with Watts’ help, and the support of the others, Emerald was still despondent, having lost almost all hope of seeing her mentor again.
Biting her lip, Salem laid her hand on the door. The Queen of the Grimm knew she and Emerald weren’t the closest… and truth be told, she had little experience or knowledge in raising children. But, an inner part of her drove her to go in, stating that she had to do something! The creak of the door was painful and slow as the door was pushed opened gently, though Salem desired to be careful. “Emerald, I know you probably don’t wa

Gureepo: [Walks up, one hand on her hip] What do you mean?

Me: It’s… well, with all that’s happened recently; I wanted to return to fanfiction reviews. But… I’ve been having a hard time finding one. Particularly because so many I’ve not had time to finish.

Gureepo: Well… what about a one-shot?

Fanfic Recommendations #5
    Hey all,

Bit of a shorter list this day, since I’m afraid that I just didn’t get a chance to find many good fanfics. I hope to amend this for next week, though!

    With that said, let’s begin!

RWBY:
CyberTheHedgehog270’s Works: Like with TigerPaw90, Cyber doesn’t always have a nice and neat series. Rather, he just tends to post whatever he wants, whenever he wants—usually comical jokes about shipping, with Jaune at the center, or parodies of events. Altogether, I kind of consider him the “counterpart” to Tiger, as not only does he focus on the heroes rather than the villains, but also his works are more about humor than about serious events. My only real criticism is that one could arguably say some of his jokes can be seen as “too soon” in some c

Despite knowing it was nothing more than a simple effigy, Miyako still thrust and bit down hard onto the object, imagining it as a struggling human. After a few minutes, the newly turned Shiki finally let go, her saliva dripping off of her lips like blood after a first meal.

“Well, I’ll give you points for creativity, but you don’t need to get so aggressive,” Shizuka replied, grinning a bit, as Miyako lifted herself up. “Just rush in, bite the neck, and suck away. There’s no need to act like you’re wrestling a

After which, Arakerish turned to Her children and proclaimed, “Let your creativity flow through the veins of All. Join me in creating this new paradise!” At once, the Aklossi spread out across the All, mixing elements and moving atoms to their liking, all under the watchful eye of The Seven Who Are One. Some even formed together to create new bonds, growing closer and forming new relationships—the first at the Dawn of Days. Fanfic Recommendations #4
Hello everyone, since I didn’t really do anything in regards to Fanfic Recommendations for the last couple of weeks, I figured it would be good to catch up. I don’t have too much this time, but I hope you guys like these regardless! I’m also going to mention one LH fanfic since the guy who talked to me asked me to mention it and I think it’s got a good premise. After that, though, I want to try and keep from mentioning them next week.
Also, from now on, I’m going to mention who is the person behind the stories as well. I figured it would be more respectful and might help give some feedback. With that said, let’s begin!

Fanfic Recommendations #3
Hi everyone,

I meant to have this done sooner, but last week I was both busy and stressed, and this week I got kind of overwhelmed with the amount of free time I actually had. Still, I wanted to do this, so here are my late Fanfic Recommendations for this week!

Dolly Kill Kill
DKK Re-Write: For those of you who don’t know, DKK is a relatively obscure manga about people having to face an alien invasion… against doll-like creatures. In some ways, it kind of takes itself a little too seriously but isn’t all that bad I suppose. The Re-Write, however, details a different kind of story; it says that the Dollies are actually an innocent race having been enslaved by another group and are being forced to fight for them. Personally, I prefer this one, since not only is it lighter in tone, but it doesn’t try to be so serious with such a quirky premise. Definitely, give it a read even if you aren’t a fan of the manga.

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I did any Piril Note Journals--partially because I wanted to get other work done first--but since these are pretty fast, I decided to get one out before I worked on other stuff. In order to get some "original ideas" out before working on other stuff. With that being said, today we are focusing on the intelligent species and creatures of Piril!

As with other games and settings, humans are more-or-less the "default" group on Piril, but that's mainly because Arvand itself has the highest amount of humans altogether, and there are other species out in Piril. Due to this, though, many humans take on terms like "humanoid" when referring to the other races, since the six other intelligent species are bipedal humanoid creatures as well.

Of course, since I also want to avoid more scientifically implausible tropes, like "goal-oriented evolution" and "evolutionary levels", I'm just going to try and explain away this coincidence by saying all the species have a specific genome that made them have the same basic traits with one another. Said genome is also referred to as the "storyteller genome" since all creatures who share the genome are the only known ones to tell stories.

With that said, let's look into the seven main sapient species:

  • Aimeh (pronounced "Ah-may"): Amphibious, humanoid fish people, the aimeh are the oldest of all the known races. Evolving from four-limbed fishes millions of years ago, they usually keep underground or are on coastal areas. Despite having dual-action lungs, the aimeh cannot let their scales dry out, lest they suffer great harm or death. Due to this, they have developed special "landsuits" that keeps their bodies moisturized while they travel across great stretches of land, though the best of these devices have been lost since the Cataclysm. The aimeh subraces and ethnicities have various different forms, with there being aimeh that resemble almost all known fish-based species, including sharks, catfish, tuna, salmon, barracudas, and more.
  • Emoch (pronounced "ee-mock"): Humanoid reptile people, the emoch are the second-oldest lifeform on Piril. Having evolved from proto-aimeh who were able to adapt to land and harsher, dryer environments, the emoch formed the first civilizations on land. Despite their great strengths, they paled in comparison to the aimeh, but when the two races met the aimeh shared with them their knowledge and allowed the emoch to prosper. Like the aimeh, the emoch have different subspecies and ethnicities based on different reptiles, such as chameleons, frogs, snakes, turtles, and more.
  • Vy'Shun (pronounced "vii-shoon"): Giant arthropods that resemble humanoid insects, the vy'shun arose centuries after the emoch. When the two older races discovered the third, they took them under their wing and taught them what they know. Due to the fact that the vy'shun have evolved to have not just lungs, but no longer need to molt, they are able to grow not just to human size but have new and varied forms of bodies. Due to their nature, there are thousands of different species of vy'shun--some of them are individuals who work alone or in a group, while others work in a hive mind. Due to the fact that they are arthropods, there are also vy'shun who resemble non-insect creatures, like arachnids.
  • Fey (pronounced "Faye"): Inhabitants of the continent of Faërîe, the fey are an enigmatic race. Having been mutated by the continents high degrees of wild magic, each fey is almost entirely unique, with only certain subspecies truly forming. Like the previous creatures, they received helped and guidance from the aimeh, emoch, and vy'shun, and were able to help control Faërîe's powerful magic. Most of them are separated into two main political groups: Light Fey (who are more orderly and structured) and Dark Fey (who are more wily and freedom-loving), though their position does not determine their morality.
  • Humans: Just like humans on Earth, humans evolved from ape-like ancestors long ago. However, other human subspecies (such as Neanderthals and Denisovans) have survived to the present day. When humans were discovered, the four previous species discovered and guided humanity through their civilization building. Along with this, humans have been considered the most adaptable of all races, able to find a way to survive in any environment.
  • Dyrek (pronounced "die-wreak"): The "Engineered Races"--so named because they were artificially created rather than naturally came into being--were the result of both genetic experiments brought on by superscience, magical rituals, or both. They most resemble the traditional fantasy and sci-fi races, such as elves, dwarves, cyborgs, robots, and more. The current list of them are:
    • Alfar (elves)
    • Vesgoi (dwarves)
    • Pyka (orcs and goblinoids)
    • Shedim (genies)
    • Ribasu (vampires)
    • Therianthropes (werebeasts)
    • Andar (beastmen and "uplifted" animals)
    • Jotun (giants)
    • Automatons (robots and AIs)
    • Marako (a race based off the Gethians from Ursula K. LeGuin's The Left Hand of Darkness)
    • "Angels"
    • "Demons"
  • Zoas (pronounced "zo-ah"): Artificial deities who arose as experiments, peoples' desire to find a different way to have a relationship with Arakerish, or just to see how far magic and science could go. Like the fey, they could appear as almost anything, and often had far more power than other races. However, they were also known for using their power humbly and wisely, even taking the smallest continent on Piril as their homeland. They could have been formed from scientific experiments, powerful rituals, a combination of science and sorcery, or even just a collective group desiring them to form. Due to this, many different zoas appeared, with differing rules and ways of working--such as some zoas being ageless whereas others were not.
In recent years within game time, the various species are mostly isolated or are even hostile towards one another. But, there are people attempting to reestablish peace with the seven races. Along with this, some people speak of a future race (we'll call them the "Harmonics" for now) who will be a perfect genetic combination of all the seven creatures, and that the formation of such beings will be one sign of the Dusk of Days (the End Times for Piril). While many don't believe this as most of the races are so genetically dissimilar that they cannot produce any offspring at all with one another, there are those who believe that groups like the dyrek might be the key to the rise of the Harmonics.

A big reason for this is because the dyrek and zoas are able to give birth to wyrd; hybrids of two or more species that have enough genetic similarity to produce offspring. While uncommon, and about half of them are sterile, they do provide a chance for new races and beings to form.
Hi guys,

So, while I was in my Internet-Based exile, I got around to thinking about some stuff in regards to posting things here on DA. Namely, that I sadly don't really post a whole here on DA, despite spending so much time on the Internet.

While I will admit a part of this is because I'm trying to find a balance between writing, real life, work, and fun stuff on the Internet (RPs, videos, discussions, etc.) I also just haven't done a whole lot on DA on a regular basis. On the other hand, big requests and projects, like fanfictions, take a lot of time--and to be fair, since I do need to practice editing them before I post them on DA (yes, you heard that right, folks--almost all my submissions are basically rough drafts) it might take even longer.

Starting today, I'm going to change that. Currently, I can't promise it'll be anything big, but right now, my goal is to try and get at least one submission out every day, maybe every two days depending on what happens. These won't always be something huge; it could just be a simple journal, a photo from somewhere I went, or something like it. Right now, I'm thinking a few big ones might be Piril Note Journals, photos from my Alaskan cruise, and maybe RP opportunities--if people would like to see that. I also want to continue to do Tabletop Tuesdays, Talking Thursdays, and Fanfiction Fridays, of course, as well as other things like it, but those will try and be on a set schedule.

Anyway, that's all I have to say today. Let me know what you want to see in the comments below, and I'll try and get the bigger projects done ASAP. Talk to you all soon!
Okay... it's finally back.

Let's hope this time, it stays.
Well, this is just great.
We got the Internet back, and we lost it again. Apparently something happened and the whole area is without it, so we’re without it indefinitely now. The crew are working on getting it fixed, so hopefully we’ll get it back soon.
I’ll try to respond to stuff soon, but I can’t promise it’ll be special or easy. Sorry guys: I really wish I was joking here, but for now this is the best I've got for now. :(
Alright, I got the Internet back finally.

Seemed that there was a problem with someone's service and it knocked out at least ours as well. So we're all good!

Also, I finally got at least one job. It's only part-time, and honestly isn't in a store I wanted to return to, but it's something and maybe now I can focus on getting work at places I want. :)

I'm willing to do it, but right now I can't do too much because I'm looking for a job and a place to stay, so that's taking top priority right now.

But, we could discuss ideas and concepts, as well as what happens. As well as how you want to write the collab altogether.
