Hi there, you just declined two of my pieces (which I'm not arguing about, it's ok), without further explanation. I'm guessing they didn't meet the quality requirements. However, when I browse through the comments here, that appears to be a regular thing, and most people seem a bit surprised to be turned down.
If in all these cases, you're declining due to quality reasons, I'd suggest to add some stronger caveat to your submission rules. In most groups, being declined is more of an exception. If you set the bar that high, relatively speaking, it might be a good idea to explicitly require "semi-professional" standards or something like that. da is mostly an amateur site, after all; very high standards aren't universally expected
Just a thought! (and now I have something to work towards to)
Well, sometime ago the criteria for submissions did change somewhat. Now, this attitude towards what gets accepted not necessarily falls within the group but within the admins in the group. So this may differ from admin to admin. I hope you seeing what am getting at. xD In my case I been a long time member here and my 24 years as a graphic designer does play a big part on what gets in. Of course, not sure about the other admins since judging falls under who gets it first. xD
Of course, opinions do very from one person to another and art is subjective in many ways. I for one only accept work with good composition and strong execution. You must understand space art is a dime a dozen. In other words I seen it all. BTW, DA is not an amateur site many people in the movie an art industry have work here. You are probably referring to the kiddies. Yeah, am sure you are. You been here 7 years you should know that by now. xD
Anyways, where I come from universally expected standards is a norm. So I find strange when someone calls this place amateurish. Perhaps you need to look around a bit more. xD
I didn't mean amateur in a disparaging way (and yeah, I know that a lot of contributors are indeed professionals). Still, the pros are a minority, I think. Just look at the forums!
Whatever - that this group uses stricter standards isn't a bad thing. It's just unexpected, compared to other groups. Hence my feedback
