Mal Hallet and Aunt Jemima by PRR8157 Mal Hallet and Aunt Jemima by PRR8157
Mal Hallet led a territory band based in Boston and made the transition from the 'Jazz Age' to the 'Swing Era', remaining popular for years.
Aunt Jemima was the stage name of Tess Gardella, who sang blues in blackface.

These two are featured together here on the basis of a couple of sides they recorded in New York on March 25, 1927:
"Positively, Absolutely and How"

"My Idea Of Heaven"

These are typical of the late '20s sound, with lots of energy and drive.

More recordings of Tess and Mal are posted on Youtube.
