What is Project QK?

Project Queen Kaiju is a space set aside for a specific theme that much of my artwork focuses on--female transformation. I've always been fascinated with duality of all kinds--secret identities, mirror worlds, cars that turn into robots, you name it. But one duality that I've come to find especially intriguing is the transition from traditional beauty to something monstrous.

Here you will find illustrations of characters who are prim and proper, sweet and wholesome, or refined and elegant. You will also find creatures of strength, savagery, and rage. And you will find illustrations depicting the strange, sometimes terrible, always fascinating process where one becomes the other.

People get different things from this subject, but the ideas are universal... the raw emotions and animal instincts that are hidden and contained by the constructs of civilization so that our society doesn't fall into chaos, and the excitement created when we peel away and discard that shell.

The women in this gallery are arguably exaggerated versions of an increasingly outdated feminine ideal, and the monsters are of course wild and brutish to the extreme. The transition from one to the other is a depiction of loss of control that should only exist in the realm of imaginiation. But eventually you may find how some of these women take control of their inhuman half and learn there is a time and a place for both sides, and to accept their wild side while still valuing their human selves.

This art may not be for everyone, which is why I keep it mostly separate from my main gallery here:

You may also wish to explore the world of my OC Janet Walker, aka the She-Wolf--a character who combines this "subgenre" with my other interest as she channels the power from her inner monster to become a costumed crime fighter:

Project QK-- Long Live the Queen
An illustration I did orginally as an icon for my new Patreon page, but I decided it would be better off as my cover image here.

Hello, everyone.  Been awhile since I've posted a journal here.  Though I've still been posting TF related stuff here from time to time, I've been trying to consolidate a little and focus more on what I consider my "main" account, which has recently been rebranded as SAS_Art72 :iconsas-art72: to bring it in line with my other accounts at Facebook, Instagram and ... Patreon.

Yes, I've taken the plunge and opened a Patreon.  If you are able, there's some material on there I think you'll enjoy.  Here's some of things already available:

For patrons $1.00 and up-- Early access to material I'm planning to post publicly elsewhere later on, and higher res versions of images already posted.  So far that's included a full res version of the "Dan and Diana" team up pic with Dragonfly and MS. Giant, the Pink Moon Wolf Girl Pic in an alternate "Noir" color scheme,  the Jane Williams TF Collage, and an early look at the next MugShot and Disney OPS mashup pic.  I plan to give subscribers at this level a Patreon exclusive image now and again as well.

For patrons $5.00 and up-- everything above, plus access to character design sketches, preview images, and exclusive concept illustrations.  So far we've had a design drawing for Janie Williams, her TF collage broken down into five individual images, a sneak peek at my next big sequence, and exclusive concept illustrations featuring Betty Ross and Bobbie Banner.

For patrons $10 and up, you'll get detailed, step by step progress reports on my projects in progress, following them through the stages of sketching, inking, coloring and so forth.  There will also be process videos and deleted sketches.  Spoilers of course will be part of the territory, but if you really want an in-depth look into what I do, here's your opportunity.  Right now the $10 patrons are getting a look at MSWME, the next big sequence which was originally intended to be my first pay per view, but will be made available in some form to all my Patreon subscibers, plus some development on my next She-Wolf 30th Anniversary illustration.

What do I get out of it?  Well, first of all, after becoming a homeowner last year, there's definitely a need to generate more income.  And, since getting an ipad, I've been doing a lot more sketching and drawing and thought this would be a good venue to share what I've worked on.   Commissions are well and good, and I'm still got two in the works right now, but there seems to be a lot of interest in my own ideas, and this will give me a chance to develop them more.

Secondly, there are many artists that I like who are on Patreon.  So far I've only been able to support a couple, and those I mostly only donate the minimum.  So depending on what kind of support I can drum up with my own stuff, I definitely hope to pay some of that forward.

So I hope you will be able to take advantage of the extras to be found on my new account.  And even if not, be sure you are following me at :iconsas-art72: on DA and SAS_Art1972 at Instagram, because there's a lot of stuff going on there even thought posts here have been sporadic, including some She-Wolf K9 Crusader goodness.

Thank you for your time and support,

DF//QK/SAS

When are you going to continue with this?

Continue this even when it's past Halloween. If you know the phrase, "better late than never", that is...

I love your art, you are great! Do you plan on doing a sequence of this one? projectqkarchives.deviantart.c…

It would be awesome to see a girl saying a spell and wishing the moon to transform her into a werewolf, maybe for halloween
