Vector Categories
Knowing which category to place your work into not only helps you by being correctly placed so that people searching for your type of work can find you, but also helps the Community Volunteers when they are looking for pieces to award a DD to. If your work is in the wrong category, chances are you're missing out on watchers and may also miss out on getting your work chosen for DD features.
So...let's have a look at the different vector categories and what kind of work belongs in each of them, so that you can correctly categories your creations!

Digital Art > Vectors This is the base Vector category. Anything and everything vector can go in here, but wait! There are so many sub-categories so that you can really narrow down which vector category your work belongs in!

Digital Art > Vectors > Abstract Vector artwork that does not attempt to represent external, recognizable reality but seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, forms and colours.
Digital Art > Vectors > Animals Vector artwork that depicts any REAL animal. This is the category to submit dogs, cats, birds, rats, rabbits, etc...NOT the category to submit Unicorns, Dragons, fictional animals/creatures, etc. These belong in Fantasy

Digital Art > Vectors > Conceptual Vector artwork in which the idea presented by the artist is considered more important than the finished product.
Digital Art > Vectors > Fantasy Vector artwork based upon fantasy: medieval settings, mystical lands and mythical beings
Digital Art > Vectors > Food & Drink Vector Artwork of food and drinks...pretty self explanatory

Digital Art > Vectors > Macabre & Dark Vector artwork which focus on the frightening, grotesque and disturbing.
Digital Art > Vectors > Miscellaneous Miscellaneous vector artwork. This category is for work that doesn't really fall under any of the other categories.
Digital Art > Vectors > Objects Vector art depicting one or more inanimate objects.
Digital Art > Vectors > People Vector artwork depicting people, or a person, as the main subject of the art piece.
Digital Art > Vectors > Portraits Vector artwork depicting only the face or head and shoulders of a subject.
Digital Art > Vectors > Scenes Vector art depicting a particular scene representative of a specific place of location.
Digital Art > Vectors >Science Fiction Vector artwork depicting speculative scientific discoveries, space travel and scenes, and other world life forms.
Digital Art > Vectors > Surreal Vector artwork having the qualities of surrealism; bizarre: a surreal mix of fact and fantasy.
Digital Art > Vectors > Vehicles Vector artwork depicting vehicles including: automobiles, motorcycles, watercraft, trains and aircraft.
What other categories include Vector sub-categories?
I'm glad you asked!! There are a few non-vector categories that DO contain a vector SUB-category! Those are:
Anime & Manga > Digital Media > Vector Vector based manga and anime art created using programs like Adobe Illustrator, Flash, ToonBoom and Corel Draw.
Anthro > Digital Media > Vector Digital anthropomorphic art (giving human qualities to non-human creatures) created in vector-based programs like Adobe Illustrator, Flash, ToonBoom and Corel Draw.
Cartoons & Comics > Digital Media > Cartoons > Vector Vector cartoon images created in specialized vector programs such as Illustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw, and Flash.
Cartoons & Comics > Digital Media > Comics > Vector Vector comic pages or strips created in programs such as Illustrator, Flash or Freehand.
Customization > Wallpaper > Vector Wallpapers consisting of vector based artwork created with Illustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw, and Flash.
Fan Art > Digital Art > Vector > Books & Novels, Games, Miscellaneous, Movies & TV Digital fan art vector images based on copyrighted material created using computer vector software.
I think that covers all of the vector categories on dA! If I've left anything out, please let me know

I hope this list and their descriptions help you to categorise your work correctly.
