So I have been doing art again consistently enough to be back at it on DA. The issue I am posed with is all my old stuff is mostly bad. I got a bunch of new pixel art pieces that I have been getting really into lately. So I want to delete a bunch of my previous stuff off of DA, is that something people do? Maybe it's not... I have no idea. I am somewhat embarrassed to be associated with it now though.

I have been doing these really cute anime style pixel art characters that I am absolutely in love with but I want to push myself to do less pixel art and force a certain level of detail. It's not that the pixel art is bad, it's that it doesn't really challenge me the way art should. I feel like I really want to push myself to draw more frequently. I am probably going for a manga / comic style with what I am doing, but I would also like to experiment with other styles too and see if anything really jumps out as being something I love.

Anyways, I wasn't some outside opinions here. Do I leave the old art I am embarrassed by or do I get rid of it? I am kind of torn here...

So I just finished my portfolio to get into the program I am super interested in. It has been a long hard couple weeks putting this bad boy together, but I think it turned out rather well. I am quite pleased with it to be perfectly honest. As long as I can maintain my composure and be confident tomorrow I will most likely get into the course I have worked so hard on applying for. Wow So glad that is all over, now I can go back to enjoying art instead of just being so objective minded about it.

If anyone wants to comment on my work it is always appreciated as well as anyone who wants to just make friendlies and share similar stories of a time when you were stressed out about your work.

Now if you'll all excuse me, I need to fall over now. Kthxbye.

Such Excite!

I am pretty amazed at the composition I just did because I used references for the first time since I started painting landscapes. Oh! And perspective too because there is architecture embedded into the natural rock formations. AND WATERFALLS! Wow. Looks so good. I can't wait until I finish it. Hopefully it turns out as amazing as I want it to. I really hope I finish this before the deadline for my college application portfolio thing-a-ma-jig. That would be super totally awesome!

In other news, I have been making friends and stuff like that! It's been a good while since I have had friends that would actually make time to hang out with me and that I enjoy being around. It's such a great feeling! Almost as great as doing something and being super proud of your work. I also started playing D&D with these new friends and I forgot how much fun it is and how ridiculous things can get sometimes. Last weekend our group boarded a ship and encountered a sea monster that we referred to as "magical leopleurodon" and was represented by a banana that we drew a face on with a marker. It remarkably resembled a honey badger. Was all the hilarious.

Anyways I think that is all I have to share for now. I hope everyone is looking forward to the painting I am working on, and if not then that's okay too!

Peace out;

Alright so here we go again with art, this time I am pretty sure it's long term. I am going to school in the fall (hopefully) for a multimedia course so I want to get my photoshop skills up as amazing as I can. Practice, practice, practice. That's what I gotta do.

I had a bit of a lesson from a friend of mine who is a really great digital painter (Her DA page is onikafei.deviantart.com/ if you wanna check her work out), and I have a landscape in the works that is my best work by a long shot. I can't wait to show it off to everyone! It's looking pretty amaze right now.

As for the rest of life, things are finally heading in the right direction! So here's to a great and hopeful future!

Mood: Excited
Watching: Dexter Season 6
Listening to: Afterman: Descension by Coheed and Cambria
Playing: Diablo 3

So I am recently getting back into art since it's something I really enjoy doing and I never understood why I stopped in the first place. It's so much fun and it's a really good creative outlet. I got a few small projects on the go just to get me started, as well as a handful of random practice sketches. Things are starting to come along nicely, and I am getting a good bit of practice in on the old wacom bamboo tablet, as well as I am going to dust off my scanner and do some pencil work.

If all goes well, I will have a new graphics tablet and will be using a dual monitor setup once I can prove to myself that I will be dedicated enough to make use of both those extra expenses.

Also, once I begin getting some deviations on here, I will probably start doing commissions for some form of imaginary currency, maybe even real currency if I can prove to be good enough. Heck I would even settle for DA points.

Anyways, it's good to be back into art as a hobby, since I feel like something has been missing from my life for a while.

Take care everyone;

Matt
