My Bio

A writer who can never get anything written, a photographer with no formal technique who passes up opportunities at every turn...if anything, I'm strongest as a planner, conceptualizer and world-builder of a certain sort.

I have a tendency to, in my own work, favor the epic and ridiculous and favor the enjoyable over the realistic, but this has been changing a bit lately. I seem to have developed a persistent fascination with ordinary houses and cars and such, all the trappings of typical American middle class life that I never specifically experienced. I also have a fondness for the kind of nondescript or even ugly public buildings that most people simply ignore.

I'm better at absorbing random information on things than I am at understanding people, but I'm working on that. My imagination is so visual that I often wish I had been born a great artist but an awful writer, but I've mostly come to terms with it. I'm a compulsive information gatherer and therefore know way more than most people about aspects of pop culture I've never actually been involved with in-depth. It also makes me dangerously good at stalking people.

That's about it, really.

As of this writing, I have begun my senior year at a university near Boston, but I was born and raised in central Connecticut and that'll always be home to me. I plan to pursue a master's degree in library science through a certain college's program that allows for a concentration in archives work. And then become some sort of archivist. It's about all I can do, really.

Favourite Visual Artist
Hmmm...tough...Magritte, maybe. Not quite sure. Really not worth bothering to answer this.
Favourite Movies
Not even going to bother to list...
Favourite TV Shows
Lost, Fringe, Kings, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Firefly, Doctor Who, Community, Falling Skies
Favourite Books
I could start listing things here, but it would look ungainly, so I won't.
Favourite Writers
There are lots...gotta give credit to Ysabeau Wilce though!
Tools of the Trade
The "new" MacBook Pro (13 inch), Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac, Canon Digital Rebel XS, Canon PowerShot A4000IS
Other Interests
Reading, writing, photography, urban exploring and abandoned stuff in general, real estate/houses, and perhaps the great useless one, cars. And not awesome new OR old ones either. Just normal recent-ish ones.
At long last, I did another photoshoot. Got a lot of stuff to show, but I'll start with a specific three.

Spent this past Sunday with Frances, first shooting in her attic and then at an abandoned rail line in the woods. I have put up some of the results! Had some issues with lighting in the attic, but I'll learn to overcome that. And the railway was a superb setting...also the first place/time that I was called upon to do a shoot of other peoples' cosplays. I feel accomplished. Also I changed my avatar to my new favorite abstract avatar, the cover of the album 154 by Wire.

I'm back at school, for the first semester of my senior year. Frances is actually living nearby, giving us incredible opportunities for our ongoing photographic collaboration. Within the next few months, expect some new pictures based around an outfit that is the improved evolution of what's in the old "character portraits" from last year. For now, have two pictures of unexpectedly artistic moments from her attic!

Thank you for watching!
You're very welcome! I discovered The Meek sometime back in the spring (sometime during the earlier days of Chapter 3) after having heard about it in a TV Tropes forum thread where people were trying to reach at least somewhat of a consensus on what webcomic has the best art. I of course started from the beginning and was absolutely hooked. As a writer more than an artist, I particular appreciate your world-building, which I am rather in awe of. Speaking of world-building and California-esque settings (I'm thinking of your Meek map here), are you familiar with Ysabeau Wilce's Flora series?
Thanks so much! I'm really glad you enjoy the world-building, it's really satisfying to do. And no, I haven't heard of that series... though honestly I go out of my way to avoid things that are too similar to my work, just because I'm afraid of unintentional crossover? if that makes sense. I'd prefer for most of my writing to come from stuff I thought of after looking at primary sources/ non-fiction. Just another form of quality control, I guess , haha...
Happy Birthday, you mad genius, you! :iconcakeplz:
