My condolences if someone assuaded you into believing you were lesbian back in the 50s before evangelical christianity changed you into a born-again, but the LGBT community really, really doesn't work that way.
Being queer isn't a choice, despite what you may have believed when you were young and trying out new things. You may be straight and convinced that the things gay people are going through are the same things as what you went through, but love is a real feeling that same-sex couples can feel for each other.
You may have felt love before, I don't know. That crazy, heart pounding feeling that makes the blood rush to your head and causes you to tremble all over, but in a good way. You probably felt that way for a man once, again I don't know. All I know is that I, a man, feel that way for other men. That's an undeniable fact.
If your god is real and created all men in his own image, then part of his own image is homosexual. Homophobia didn't peak until around the 1950s. Homosexuality existed for long before that. (It's even found in animals!)
