Backstory

Amaya was the first foal between her two parents who, unbeknownst to her, were a bit on the young side. Despite the surprise that Amaya turned out to be, they adored their little girl who they felt was a perfect blend of them both. The little family lived amongst a modest herd who was lead by a much older stallion. Very much aging out, the elder unicorn did his best to lead the group of misfits but his best years were long behind him.

One evening, he led the herd to a stream to drink when the sky suddenly turned bright red. Something stirred in the heavens causing the entire heard to look upwards. This foolish lapse of attention allowed crocs to sneak up on the herd and attack while they were distracted.

Luckily, Amaya managed to escape but was then faced with trying to survive the wild on her own. She wandered for several weeks, sleeping fitfully and rarely foraging enough to keep her belly full. After a few mishaps with berries the filly became more picky about what she ate which meant finding safe forage was even trickier.

Eventually her wandering led Amaya to the eastern coast of the Flame Expanse where she chose to wait for her parents. That was until one day where she thought she had met her end. Three Kulo dragons arrived on her beach and sniffed her out without fail. Luckily for little Amaya, the Kulo's listened to a magnificent winged stallion who came to her rescue. His kind mare Harmonii also arrived and offered Amaya a home with them. Tentative at first, Amaya eventually agreed to stay secretly hoping they would find her parents.
