Have you ever wondered what would you see if you could look trough the magnifying glass on drop of water from another planet? Well, if it would be water from sea on planet Ullr, you would find some of these critters. All these aliens are very tiny, biggest is less than 2 centimeters long, but still they are slightly larger than average Earth planktonic crustaceans. Most of them filter unicellular algae from water. Others are predatory, hunting another species of plankton, usually by simply waiting with open jaws, ready to snap anything which hits it. Folialvus has no mouth and grow algae inside its body. They are all mostly transparent (except for eyes) so are quite hard to spot in water, but some of them protect themselves by sharp spikes, which can be even reinforced by SiO2 (commonly known as glass). But if you think they are weird, you should find out how some species of Earth plankton look like. I guarantee they are not any less strange than aliens on the picture.
