Since that Tyrannosaurus is taking so long, I wanted to work on something new so I could switch my focus between them. Here's an early rough sketch of one of my favorite Cenozoic animals, the Miocene sperm whale Livyatan. It kind of looks like a cross between a sperm whale and an orca, and is just genuinely awesome. Also another contender for one of the best scientific names for an extinct animal; Livyatan melvillei, after the biblical Leviathan and Herman Melville, author of 'Moby Dick'. Currently resisting the urge to make it all-white...
