The fractal looks like this: Moving one transform If you try moving a transform around, it will change all the structure. So, I've run some tests. One of the biggest problems with mesh lights is that they take so much longer than photometrics if you use anything with more than one polygon, because Iray calculates emission from every polygon. So unless you're using a one-poly plane as a mesh light, it's much slower.I was curious if using mesh spheres becomes a better idea if you fill the scene with instances. Normally Iray appears not to count instances as geometry in the scene, making it render faster. There have been a couple of discussions recently on the Daz Forums about converting Victoria 4/Michael 4 poses to Genesis 3 figures.There are at present two ways to do this. Just putting on the pose and adjusting manually doesn't really work because G3 has more bones than Generation 4.You can do it in a way that is a little more time-consuming but costs nothing using these scripts from ShareCG by rsg. To do this you load a V4 and a G3F or G3M into the scene, apply a pose to V4, and apply the script to V4 to get it to transfer properly to G3. Now available exclusively at Renderosity. These are the photometric lights that I use in all of my promos in Iray. When I started out I used more mesh, but over time I realized I could get the same soft-shadows look with photometrics with geometry on, and my scenes would render faster.There are some three point setups in here, but also scene-filling big arrays for soft, dim lights, ring lights for more "fashion portrait" looks, "blue for night" lights, and a sun lamp when you want the higher-contrast look of sunny 16 tone mapping but want to use an HDR or a sky preset for lighting.
