Macrocosm by powerpointer Macrocosm by powerpointer
Proudly Presenting ~Macrocosm~

:bulletgreen: Click the download button for the wallpaper pack!!:bulletgreen:

Macrocosm and microcosm is an ancient Greek Neo-Platonic schema of seeing the same patterns reproduced in all levels of the cosmos, from the largest scale (macrocosm or universe-level) all the way down to the smallest scale (microcosm or sub-sub-atomic or even metaphysical-level). In the system the mid-point is Man, who summarizes the cosmos.

Original size was massive, so wallpaper pack is appropriately large :P If you have normal res instead of a widescreen res, just "center" the appropriate size.

Sizes:
:bulletred:2560x1600:bulletred:
:bulletred:1920x1200:bulletred:
:bulletred:1680x1050:bulletred:
:bulletred:1440x900:bulletred:

mmm, but it seems like the surface of the two planet copy of each other? I mean, you just copy one surface and rotate it. it would be nice to use a completely different surface

One of your best yet aesthetic-wise, though not one of your more original pieces.

Could you possible give me a tip on how you make your planets look so detailed? I've seen so many people that can make detailed planets like that, but I just don't know how its done. Would you mind being the one to help me out? I would GREATLY appreciate it.
Thanks

Work large, use larger textures :)

And seriously, LARGE. The original size for this image was around 10,000px x 6,000px or something of that nature. It takes a long time to composite a texture that is workable at those sizes, but the payoff is worth it ;)

Ahh, alright, yeah I never really used textures that much before. And so, do you use the textures before you sphereize the planet? Or do you do it after sphereizing it to keep it from pixilating? And if you do it after, how do you keep the perspective, for example on your macrocosm? You're looking at the side of the planet on an angle, therefore giving a different perspective as opposed to looking straight down on top of it? ya know what I mean? =\

Triangular lens flares? Took me a while to figure out what they were, I thought it was an odd feature of the planet surface. :D

Yeah, I've been using those a lot lately :P They're in a bunch of recent pieces I did.

Wouldn't that mean that the lens the picture was "taken" from is triangular?
