Chapter 14: The Road Home
After I had recovered enough to walk on my own, Light’s parents decided it was time to return back to Alensville. As we settled down in the car and began driving, my mind wandered back to the reassurance Hitachi had provided me. I glanced over towards Light, noting that the dreary glum she had the few days before still hung about her. I still hadn’t passed on the words her brother had told me to her, as she hadn’t been around long enough to begin a conversation. I frowned as I watched her discreetly wipe her eyes of the tears that had begun forming. I inched closer to her, but didn’t necessarily say anything to her. I suppose it was enough of a gesture for her because she smiled slightly, sinking into the seat and resting her head on my arm.
“Sorry, I’m just...well I know I probably won’t see them for awhile.”
I nodded, ruffling her hair, “I figured,” I sigh
