Roman Armour by portohle Roman Armour by portohle
Initially, I just wanted to do a study of roman armour. Then for some reason I had to get fancy with it. I tried to keep it realistic, though I'm sure any experts in roman armour would tear it apart. It was fun though.

That's a mix between Greek and Roman

Gladius was wearing on right side, not left, but really good work ;)

Thanks. Although, I think centurions could wear them on the left.

It's the Lorica Musculata.
Indeed a copy of a Greek design, it was worn by officers, because it had to be custom fitted to the wearer and was thus very expensive.

Oddly, from the whole picture, the cuirass is probably the least objectionable piece...

Wow! Amazing work! Love it!

I was wandering if you could let me us this image for an Android game called "Kingdoms of Myth", it's turn based strategy game based on a fantasy World. You can find a little bit more info in this rough website made by my colleges [link] (Sorry for the bad English). Of course you will have full credits of your work and link to your webpage if you want :)

Lot of thanks for your time ;)

Actually, while enlisted would wear the segmented armour, generals' armour was rather similar to this. So, you are pretty accurate.

Depends heavily on what century. The lorica segmentata (aka lorica laminata) was only prevalent during 1 AD and a bit into 2 AD. Most common armours were hamatae (lorica hamata).
The officers although mostly depicted wearing the musculata (muscle armour) wore into combat a hamata and likely a squamata (scale) or a plumata (mail armour with metal plumes).

I'm making a Roman helmet in 3D class. Is it alright if I use this as a reference? ^^;

Absolutely, that would be cool. Just know that though it's based on the real thing I did make some alterations that I'm not sure were traditional.

Thanks. I wanted to put more detail into it, but it was supposed to just be practice and I wanted to move on to something else.
