This comic is an unholy mistake of someone maddened by isolation, an evil creation that could not be undone.
So, I've heard some people didn't understand that the hibernation was a metaphor* of death. Yes, it was an Y-rated episode about a dying pet, and that's why Rainbow went insane about it. Hopefully, now it's obvious to everyone.
* - apparently, judging by comments, some people also don't know what a metaphor is
