Changelings aren't exactly a very 'clean' species and you might know it especially if you follow official IDW comics. Changeling goo... it's everywhere where they reside.
Info for those who don't watch season 6 episodes - Spike convinced Cadance and Shining Armor that they should allow the changeling live in the Crystal Empire because he is a good changeling. A song was enough to convince them. And no one was afraid he could be a spy or something...
