[Update #2] Rules & Parameters

Here are the Official Rules of The Pong Chain
#1 Post-processing adjustments to color, contrast, editing of minor errant pixels, frames, signatures and the use of backgrounds is perfectly acceptable.

#2 The starting formula are the only formula to use.  No adds or deletes.  You may toggle off or on, Julia.  Please don't switch to DECombinate mode.

#3 Post your work within 72 hours of it being your turn.  If you know in advance you will be unable to take your turn, contact LightBulbMoon. With enough advance notice, arrangements will be made to accommodate the situation.  If no confirmed arrangement is made, after 72 hours, the next link in the chain will take their turn.
Remember, this is really about having fun so don't stress out it there is a minor hiccup in the schedule.

#4 When you post your work, mention the next artist listed in the schedule in your description.  The schedule is at the bottom of this journal.  It is also ideal if you send the next artist a note - that always gets a person's attention!

#5 Don't forget to post the parameters in the description!

New, Multi-Deviant Pong Format

We've been discussing a variation on the classic Pong format here at Pongorama headquarters lately and have decided it's time to try it out!



In a traditional, classic pong, two artists send the fractal's parameters first to one and then, back to the other. Back & forth. This repeats.
In this new format, we have a list of 10 artists where the parameters are  passed on to the next 'link' in the 'chain' of artists.  Only forward, down the chain, not back.

In this first inaugural pong-chain, we're inviting 7 Mandelbulb3D fractal artists to sign up in the comments below.

Join us for a little fun - And help us work out the kinks in this new process!

How It Works

1 Once we have a total of 10 Deviants sighed-up, we'll list their ID's here.

2 The Chain Admin, Yours Truly, LightBulbMoon, will post the starting parameters to the first link in the chain.

3 Once posted (the date is noted in the journal) the next artist in the chain has 72 hours to create and post their tweak.

4 Once the tweak is posted in the gallery, the next artist on the chain is notified. **Notification via the "@" command on dA. If you aren't sure, it's easy, just put the @ in front of the deviant id in your image description and that deviant will get a notice that they have been mentioned in a post. THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT. If you have any questions about how to do this, just ask one of us and we'll be happy to help you with it.

5 Each member of the chain gets their turn in this way

6 The last person on the chain notifies the first person and the process starts over.

** IN CASE OF TIME OUT: In the case of someone in the chain not making their 72 hour deadline, nottaworry! The NEXT person in the chain will pick up the parameters and move on. This way, when real life gets hectic and you may not have time to do your post (hey, it happens) the process moves on automatically with no fuss and no bad juju.

Chain Gallery

We'll create a folder for Chain Pong Entries.  Over time we hope to have several running.  We'll also get Apo and other software chains going.

As with all new processes, there might be unanticipated issues.  We absolutely want to get constructive feedback & comments from everyone.
