1 min read

Just decided to update, I'm 25 now, baybeeee. Also need to spam some overdue art uploads.

My art output has increased so much in recent months, probably within the last year (at least, in the sense of completed and halfway-completed pieces I'd want to put here), that I feel comfortable putting my art here regularly again. My absence and very rare art post in recent years was mostly due to college - I didn't really get a good laptop to do art on until I actually started studying art (first year pretty simple, the next HORRENDOUSLY exhausting), so even though I've successfully laptop arted in the past, most of the stuff I produced around that time wasn't anything I considered good enough or complete enough by the standards I was slowly curating. And at home around that time I didn't have any energy to art on my home computer or even use my printer for scanning the multitudinous traditional works and sketches I'd produced.

Let's talk setups. My previous home computer and desk setup was something I didn't realize was a living nightmare until I invested in a new, larger desk after moving into a new place. Think about the space in which I have to draw; my tablet's edge is flush against the rather sqaut but thick base of my monitor, and the other side is consistently dancing on the cusp of the desk's edge. This is a medium Wacom Intuos we're talking about here, it is SWAMPING what little desk space isn't taken up by my giant-ass gaming computer - My current one turned out to be larger than the previous, you can tell how fun that was. And of course, my monitor and the left of everything is usually sketchbooks and drinks, but the way the child-sized drawers and little leg of shelves were built means I couldn't simply use that area for my tablet. My arms were trapped between a very wet drink and a very expensive computer, not to mention there's no pull-out keyboard rack on that thing (modular children's furniture is sometime cheap for a reason) so it was constantly a battle of trying to get comfortable with my keyboard whenever I wanted to draw. Imagine the bigger pain in the arse a wired keyboard was before I wised up and bought a wireless set. My TV stand (and consequentially, a load of wires out in front powering the TV and various consoles) were just to the right of me, so no respite from the right.

Now, to my current setup. My current, lovely non-garbage PC sits in its own little nook underneath a really handy drawer. There's a couple small shelves, and this is the main body of the desk- where and the technical shit is. It's a little larger in length but the width from keyboard to the back is a MASSIVE improvement. I have space for so much shit just on the main body! Wedding Bowser's sitting on the little shelf by himself! And to the left of that is another section that's about two fifths of the main body in length. A long shelf, a ridiculously useful pullout tray I've used for my laptop, a shelf under that where all my sketchbooks sit, and than there's this crazy big cupboard that I'm using for art supplies. Like, I've only filled it a third of the way up, it's a TARDIS in there.

Simply put, my situation for making art at home is a 100% better than it ever has been. I can draw on my tablet with full range of motion and not be having a staring contest with my monitor, she and I were so close.

Back when I was having issues logging into Tumblr, I sorta gradually moved onto Twitter, but I haven't posted art there much because it's a less art-devoted world. I'm in a life state now where I can finally start posting back to my first art site, my dear online portfolio, and there's allot of art y'all have missed out on. I'm here and I'm producing stuff to the same rate I did at like - according to the site analytics my most frequent posts were in 2009? 2008? I don't want the online mark of my art productivity to be stuck in the past anymore.

Just needed to get these thoughts typed up for my first new journal in ages. I've spent over an hour getting this rant down in wordpad and I'm happy I did. The big blocks of text are probably hard to appreciate, but hey, I was writing before I was drawing.

A very organized and enfused Ponella, signing off. (Bloody winter sucks and I can't believe my premium membership is still going, I know I think this every time I log on but they last forever)

About fucking time - now I can find all those important brush packs I thought were lost when I updated my main system to Win10!

I can't login to Tumblr, but unlike other 'updates' I can't actually go through my Tumblr dash to look for fixes or see if anyone else has had this problem.

People keep bulk-faving my Rainbow Magic stuff even though it's all SUPER OLD and I'm just sick of it. I admire the fact that either people are into fairies or the Rainbow Magic fandom has got allot stronger in the past few years (the shoddy anime-looking movie might've helped bring in more fans), but just STOP BULK-FAVING IT. IT'S SOME OF MY OLDEST CRAPPIEST STUFF AND I HAVE ALLOT BETTER, NEWER FANART OF OTHER THINGS IN MY dA GALLERY. I'll just have to start deleting the messages, because this is getting out of hand. Or at least just fave gradually, like I've said before, because allot better activity messages have popped up in my dA inbox. I'm still into Rainbow Magic (as the 100-something Rainbow Magic books on my bookshelf will tell you), I just don't draw it much anymore. There's gonna be one of my fave fairies (Jasmine the Present Fairy) in my big history art project (which I update on Tumblr), but that's about it.

Oh, and I have a Tumblr where I probably update more - theartistisin.tumblr.com, and bulk-faves of my old art is probably one of the reasons I rarely post here anymore.
