Hey there! Question.

If a sculpture is burned, is it ruined forever? Can it be repurposed, or should it be thrown away?

I left a sculpt in the oven after baking late one night and my roommate burned it the next day on accident by preheating the oven. It blackened, but did not bubble. My roommate felt bad to have it go to waste. Is making it into something else a viable option?

Sorry, I'm not much help with clay. I don't really know much about clay, but my thought would be to paint it maybe?

Thank you for answering regardless! I do plan on painting it later on. It was meant to be someone else's character however, and I cut some features off so that I could make it into something original. I plan on adding pieces back onto it and baking it again, however I don't want to make a toxic piece of work and sell it to someone! ;v; So it's sitting on my desk, lol

I would like to join your group. How do I go about doing so?

Hi there! At the top of the screen a bit under the name of the group there should be a button that says "Join our group". You should be automatically added and won't have to wait for approval.

Have anyone ever tried to use clay on polystyrene ball? Can I bake them together in at once (30 min, 130°C/266F) or in small doses (e.g. 3x 10 min, same temperature)?
I don't have any experience in air dry clay but I'm willing to try it too.

P.S.: I would like to make a mini planet ornament with them c:

Hey! I know this is a bit late, but I highly WOULD NOT recommend baking clay on styrofoam! It's not safe in the microwave, so I can only imagine it would not only destroy your project in the oven when it melts, but also release toxic gases. Tinfoil and wood is fine, though! However, if you're willing to do the project with air dry clay instead, go for it! :)

Hello! I know this is a group for polymer clay, but I was hoping someone could possibly help me out with some air dry clay? ;v;

I have a sculpture that consists of a wooden box with air dry clay molded around it (which was really dumb thing of me to do looking back but it was a last minute project and I didn't have a lot to work with) and I would like to keep the box open because there's another hidden sculpture inside but the weight of the clay causes it to leave big cracks everywhere and I'm constantly fixing it with glue and paint. I just decided I'd like to enter it in a student art show but it would be nice if I could keep the liid open without it cracking. I have to finish it today because entries are due tomorrow. Any suggestions on how I can keep it from cracking with the lid open and prevent it from breaking completely? Thanks for your time!
