James Coleman ( :iconusere35: ) is looking for a partner or partners to work on collaborative projects. Says Coleman  "This isn't anything serious, it's certainly not a financial arrangement, but it's just to create a few deviations together and increase each others galleries slightly and maybe mutually share some knowledge as well."

James is well versed in creating 3D fractals and other maths based art in Cinema 4D and then rendering them in Maxwell Render (see his gallery here: usere35.deviantart.com/gallery… ), but he feels that most of his work is centred around existing ideas and that he falls short in the generation of new concepts made possible by advanced in 3D modelling.

He's looking for someone who understands the maths behind 3D polyhedra/fractals/patterns but doesn't have the means to generate them. He is also looking to expand his knowledge of 3D turtle graphics and fractals.

If you are interested or know anyone who might be (deviantart or not) then send him a note.

Earlier I had suggested to James the notion of Koch fractals applied to the Kepler-Poinsott solids. Just as Koch fractals can be built on star polygons, the same process can be applied to the stellated polyhedra. He promptly responded by uploading this beautiful image: usere35.deviantart.com/art/Sma…

So I highly recommend collaborating with Coleman. He is a good resource in our midst.

Regards,

Hop David

Hm, as I am working with POV-Ray, I need a lot of maths to evaluate various things. I usually let POV-Ray do the real number-crunching, and feed it with the appropriate formulae. I just don't know if that is of any help for Applications like Cinema 4D, as POV-Ray usually works completely different as those applications, being purely a scripting language.
And usually, it takes me a while to figure out the correct maths, and quite often, there's a lot of try-and-error involved :)
But if I can be of any help, just contact me. I am always glad to help and find new contacts.

Not sure if I can be of any help, math isn't my forte and I'm fairly new to 3D, but I'd love to cooporate with him. Where do I sign up? :meow:

I'm waiting to hear from you Snohyn. I'd be particularly interested in the maths/making of this image :thumb268181436: I can't replicate it yet.

Go to his page: ~usere35 and send him a note. The "Send a Note" button is in the upper right of the window, right next to the Watch button.
