Commission for :iconsunflower-renegade:

This is the last card of the Major Arcana, number XXI, The World. Also known as The Universe in some decks, this card symbolizes the culmination of all knowledge and understanding that an individual can achieve.

I used the archetypes of the virgin and the snake, to represent the mortal mind coming to terms with its own id. The virgin, of an unspecified race/species, praises her creator as she makes love to the serpent; reconciling with her estranged, ancient lover as her mind is filled with the infinite possibilities of the incomprehensible universe. She feels no guilt or shame, finally understanding all facets of creation, and joyful in the comprehension of her place in the grand scheme of things.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.

Drawn in pencil and ink, then scanned and colored with PS7.

Eee! She's so happily content! Loves it, will get when paid next! How did you get the galaxy effect on the serpent? Also, something I noticed in other works- your women actually have nipples! That is so rare...usually they're tiny, utterly flat compared to the surface they're on or they're part of a comical 'gross-out' effect. Yay for normal boobs!
(Okay, disregard gleeful crack comment, will make a more articulate one later on.) Happy Nat now :D

I'm so relieved you like it! XD And I adore gleeful crack comments. The galaxy effect was made using photoshop layers. I painted a space-scape on the layer behind the image (with some lens flares for the brighter stars) and deleted the snake's body so it would show through. This image hit me like a ton of bricks the night I first sketched it. I knew exactly how I wanted it to look from the first pencil stroke, which is pretty rare for me. I usually have to struggle with abstract-concept images to get them right. This was fun. Thank you. ^_^

good to see you a bit active again. i love that the snake is all star and galaxy kinda look inside of it, really does give it that Universe or World feel to it. And the sun? under the Snakes body behind the tree, looks pretty rad, it just adds to the over all feel to it. Good Work!
